This is old but Alex Morgan is so overrated on and off the field. The real force behind the equal pay fight, if you actually ask her teammates, is her more beautiful, talented and intelligent counterpart, Christen Press.
Yep
we need more teams. if we can doubled the numbers as in 60 we can do relegation league. AND have our own FA cup
Let's get to 36 and introduce relegation!!!
If all of you soccer traditionalists think that pro/rel is the answer to every ailment in American Soccer then…. how about USL and UPSL merge into its own soccer pyramid and make its own pro/rel. If this is the awesome answer then all the fans will flock to USL and then finally MLS will go out of business.
You have too remember one thing about pro/rel. A lot of soccer purest I'm sure swear by pro/rel and believe it will solve all problems for soccer in this country. And will put soccer over the top and it will reach mainstream status on the same level as the NFL. But the other side of that is all of the people in this country that barely even know soccer exist. The kind of sports fan that has always followed the NFL, MLB, NBA, and college sports and barely even know MLS exist. The few of those people that do watch an MLS game and pick a team to start rooting for are NOT going to like pro/rel if the team they pick gets relegated to what they would probably call "the minor leagues." It would be the same as watching the New York Yankees have such a terrible year and suddenly got relegated to the minor leagues and started playing cities like Hartford, Scranton, and Richmond instead of the rivals they have ALWAYS played. Not a single Yankees fan would accept that and most common sports fans in this country would not like and/or understand pro/rel in MLS. This is the United States. Not Italy or Brazil. We have a different sports culture in this country. It's time everyone realizes that and accepts that as the truth. Because it is the reality we live in.
At least good to hear that the soccer game is growing in USA.
Sacramento Republic is ready to go with Downtown Soccer Specific Stadium on Light Rail line. It's Portland's Twin Sister City.
Look at a team like RSL. 10 years ago in a 16 ish team league, they were championship contenders and a "model franchise" that could expect to win a championship every 15 ish years. In a 30 team league, RSL will become an afterthought.
Good podcast! I’m new to soccer specially to MLS any recommendations to improve my experience?
Is lie, juventus n MLS play zero zero n get worked hard as well. Martinez was driving them around like bugardi n race car motor sport, common.
That will be a failure Lala to add more teams.
No mention of the sounders youth team winning GA cup?
Other sports? NFL? It's clear that some college teams would beat the bottom of the NFL rankings. It's past time that college football be separated from schools and we get pro/rel there too. 😉
More teams means less quality and more mediocrity. If bigger is better than Bundesliga should expand to 36 teams, Liga MX to 33, La Liga to 40 etc. but that ain't the case because as it is in those leagues we already see bad teams and adding double would only mean more bad teams not better "talent" or better "quality".
From turf field to non fifa soccer dates now 30 teams. MLS is a joke.
What about player fatigue? 30+ teams would mean 60+ games a season which would surely bring more injuries and a reduction of pace and quality to each match as the season goes on? Add to that the travel times for teams due to the sheer distance between different teams in MLS and there is most definitely going to be extensive fatigue? Maybe MLS should look into increasing the bench size to 12 similar to Serie A or the Eredivisie to compensate for the number of games if they do want to add 30+ teams? Overall i think it is too much
With all respect I don’t think mls has a team that is a threat to Europe and south of the border we choked hard in concacaf and every time Europe comes down and plays mls we get worked so hard we don’t have respect from anybody and that hard to believe and accept when you have your friends from where ever clowning you
A fourth MLS team in California, while Arizona has zero? Come on!
I told folks that MLS as a developing league is now better than Liga n premier league. I was whatching premier league last week n realize that MLS had control the world soccer entertainment industry. But had to european fan to say the truth
I'd love Promotion and Relegation but i just don't see how the owners would agree to that. If you're one of these teams that paid a $200 million entrance fee and end up getting relegated your team's gonna lose a TON of money. The parachute payments for those relegated teams are going to be huge.
Why get more teams when you can’t even fill up stadium. And why not use the USL teams for promotion and regulation
