They have an insane amount of pressure on their shoulders. But a few months ago some of these players were excelling against top quality opposition in the champions league. They been there and done that.
So It’s a mix of many things. But they are good players playing badly.
But Italy are not the team of old are they. Yet England could barely squeeze a fart out against Andorra could they.
As an Italian I can agree what you are saying.. but.. you need to put in an other perspective.. we did NOT want to play with Israel.. a lot of pressure here in Italy and I tink the player felt that.. I can't in my mind understand why they let Israel be a part of the world cup but not russia.. it's beyond me!

There is a huge crisis of confidence in this team. They are prone to errors and when they go a goal down they panic. The one thing Gattuso has at least brought is some kind of grit and determination, because otherwise I think they would have collapsed like against Norway.
Marco saying qualification for Italy is probably already not going to happen is incorrect. They aren’t going to win the group, but they’ll have a good chance in a playoff. I’m not saying they for sure will qualify, but saying they already probably won’t is incorrect.

The defense was the worst I've ever seen by an Italian national team and I say this as a 65 year-old having seen Italy in tournaments since before 1982. Bastone and Di Lorenzo are a joke. You need strong defenders and that pair are useless. Fix that defense and they may qualify. That defense is an embarrassment, especially for a nation who for decades have been masters at defense.

Se non vuoi metterlo in difesa, mettilo davanti alla difesa ma l Italia ha bisogno delle sue qualità sempre. Donnarumma è troppo fuori dai Pali, con la sua altezza invece dovrebbe coprire meglio la porta restando dentro di piu. Quando esce crea troppi pericoli, ha fatto bene il PSG a mandarlo via.

When will people admit Bastoni isnt elite. Inter was letting in goals left and right against Bayern, Barca and PSG (Juve-Inter also 4-4 last season). Barca scored 6 against them in 2 games. How many PSG again. Bastoni was part of all those games.
