    On average, that's a bad PK approach: walking slowly to the ball, like you're saying to the goalie: I am coming, very slowly. You guess which side I am kicking. Wrong. Guess again. Etc…. Bad psychology; bad approach.

    A PK should be done as quickly as possible, allowing the goal keeper NO time to think; he must act immediately, by committing 100% to one side, or the other — BEFORE the ball is kicked — to meet "a fast flying ball."

    Plus, running fast at a PK ball doesn't mean you also have to kick it hard; it could be a soft kick, too. That tactic allows a kicker MORE options. But the reverse isn't true: if you're walking gingerly to a PK ball, you could only kick it with moderate force. THAT allows too much time for the goalie to think and to see YOUR slow motion action. Given enough time, a smart goalie could out psychologize a PK kicker.

    Looks like that foul occurred some 2 meters before the penalty box; both guys just made 2 more steps before they fell inside… but the foul was outside.
    That being said, it was a last defender, so perhaps it might have been a DOGSO red card and a free kick instead
