  1. This used to be seen as "bad football" in the past, to throw long like that. Except for teams that specifically have long balls as their very core tactics, like 2011 Stoke City, which is very very rare.

  2. The trick to this is ensuring that the first nod comes off your own player and anything after that is left to chance.. The only chance to stopping it is ensuring that the initial contact isn't gotten.. And teams are getting it a little wrong.. They put their big defenders in the middle and put many of their other players at the spot of the initial contact.. But the teams using the long throws goes otherwise.. They put their big men at the spot for the initial contact.. And their other players at the back post.. So I'll rather put my big defenders at the spot for the initial contact so they can make it a hard job for that initial contact.. If the initial contact can be disrupted.. The whole plan is disrupted

  3. Everything comes back around. Teams in a few seasons will stop using it when others figure out how to defend them again. Tiki taka will also make a comeback
