  1. Liverpool will never lose money on him. If he continues to improve with age, he could be worth 100m in 5 years. The most we will have to pay Chelski is 4 or 5m. He's already won us a game we didn't deserve to.

  2. It's already confirmed that goal against Newcastle etc will not effect his price. They paying for the talent from the time he was bought, not what he becomes later on.

  3. Chelsea aren't getting anywhere near ยฃ10m
Liverpool have a perfect example to point at in Elliott. He had debut for Fulham's first team before he joined Liverpool on a free and Fulham got ยฃ4.3m incl. add-ons.
Rio had not and wasn't anywhere near the first team. Frankly, what he does after he has come to Liverpool hold very little weight in the grand scheme of things because Liverpool could easily argue that the year he spent at the club is what made him ready for his PL debut.
Chelsea might get something around ยฃ5-6m.

  4. Yes the compensation will be around a couple of million max (chances are it will actually be lower than a million). No Liverpool director or boardroom member will be sweating about that.

  5. He's been at Liverpool for a year and Chelsea had all that time to lodge an appeal to receive compensation, but they didn't, it was only after he was given his debut and scored that they suddenly started crying foul and making legal threats, guaranteed if he was still only making academy appearances, they wouldn't be saying a f*cking thing.

  6. Liverpool will still have to pay regardless of his performance. Tribunal will set the fee and thereโ€™s a cap. Highest awarded was for Harvey Elliot.

  7. It isnโ€™t an English Premier League rule, itโ€™s a FIfa rule known as Training and Solidarity Fee. 5% paid to any teams that developed a player from age 12 to 23.
