The players can, out of sportsmanship, kick the ball out of play, or the ref can stop the game if an injured player needs attention. Even with VAR, if a ref doesn't stop play then goals can be scored. As for the rest – mistakes can be, and often are, made and players can score legal goals any way they see fit. 'Disrespectful'?? I should cocoa – if an opposing team deserves it, so what? At least it's entertaining!
On another note – I have not seen such cynical fouling and play, throwing matches to lesser and home teams (coff, Canada, USA, Mexico, coff…), despite the FIFA idiocies, in this World Cup (2026) or whatever reason (…coff, moneee, coff…) since the 1970s!
