I'm watching this 6 years later, and the irony is amazing. This MLS channel is a shining example, in and of itself, of major problems in the U.S. regarding soccer. First of all, having sell-out, hired, MLS establishment, hack parrots like Andrew Dweebie and the rest of that ridiculous cast of ding-a-lings from Extra-Time as the "analysts" for the league is shameful. They're kids pandering to hipster kids. That's what the league wants. Not a good product on the field. If I were Landon Donovan I wouldn't have even given this interview to them. They're not serious, legitimate analysts. HOW someone like Susannah Collins has a career, and even moved on to a bigger platform from ExtraTime is beyond me. She's completely unqualified. If you had real players and coaches covering the league, then that would give weight and credibility. But having these incompetent, third rate children covering the league for the MLS brand is a joke. It's hipsters selling a sub-par product to other hipsters who are pretty much clueless about the sport and don't know what good is. This is for "fans" whose knowledge of the game comes from playing FIFA on Xbox and think being a fan is going to a prefab fan-pub wearing their $70 scarf, and then going to see "their" team. These so-called "fans" don't go unless the weather is perfect, and "their" team is playing on a weekend, at a good time for them. Otherwise, forget it. Would they be at Red Bull Arena during a playoff match on a Wednesday night in the rain??? No way. Fans in England will go if the world is ending for a regular league match no matter what. Obviously, things have changed a lot since 2018. But we're still in this really dysfunctional area with the sport, and MLS has got some major issues to confront, and shows no sign of ever doing that. We still have a VERY long way to go. Look where we've gone with this since 2018… Gregg Berhalter. Enough said.

I love World Cup football (soccer) play. You get to see the world come together and compete for a championship. That international aspect of World Cup football (soccer) is really exciting. Then you have the US who dominates just about everything. Except football (soccer). Most Americans do not care about football (soccer) because Americans love baseball, basketball, ice hockey, and American Football (use fig shaped ball). That is why there is a reason to cheer for a bunch of underdog Yankees who love football (kicking a round ball). But their countrymen do not care about football (soccer). Yanks as underdogs. That sounds so strange. Americans are rarely the underdog. Vamos los Yankees.

Landon is a smart guy who has a remarkably grounded perspective. He understands what it's like to be a soccer fan in this country and his perspective on the future of the national team was spot on.
Get a grip and actually realise that the USA has absolutely no right to be at the World Cup unless you earn it. Iâm fed up with Americans thinking they should always be there. Everyone else has to earn it

âDethronedâ WTF?!?! Thatâs the exact kind of American arrogance on display that will keep us as a second class football culture. We had no throne to be âdethronedâ from! That opening statement says it all. We have a rabid fan culture who wants a player culture to match. Americans are nuts for football but a new system needs to be put in place to grow the quality of football! What that is I canât say. I have ideas, but no idea of the logistics. We are such a big country we can hardly have derbys let alone inner city derbys. So how would we have a feeder system or a 6 tier system with relegation and promotion. Relegation can really light a fire under the asses teams and fans! Somebody give me a reply hear. Iâm so frustrated !!!!!!!!!

I see a vast improvement, in skills and technique, among American players. Even the best teams make slip ups. Holland v Germany 1974 World Cup Final. Holland were head and shoulders better than Germany. They lost! Don't be too downhearted. You are still a very young soccer nation, still learning. I feel confident that you will qualify for the next World Cup.

There's more. I feel like I have personally played with players better than Landon. But they have no outlet for their talent, and they have no scouts out there looking for them. So they end up playing Sunday leagues or indoor soccer. It's a travesty
Landon is clueless and he has zero insight into how to make US soccer better. It has nothing to do with leadership. The thing we lack is youth development. In big European nations they have youth academies that will pay for kids to play and develop. And in the US we coddle children far too much, and as you'll hear from so many youth players, you have to pay to play. It's completely backwards compared to the great footballing nations
