It’s simple really, in Madrid he never had to carry the team. He was part of a team of great players. Where he is now he is expected to carry the team but he is not that kind of player.
the saudi pro league should have bought all the best players that are not starters at the big clubs. 1 club shoukd have rather made a full squad instead of lets say neymar for eg. at arsenal they couldve bought 3 players and chelsea 5 players at liverpool 3 players then the next club instead of Benzema they coulda get some juve bayern and milan players. next club coulda gone barca dortmund and porto… and so on. then they make a really good league with really good players.

He's 36 and collecting his paycheck. Apart from a very limited number of players, players over 32-33 are past their prime or will have a hard time to perform consistently and without injuries at a higher level. So a lower level league with top tier pay is what draws the to SA. However, most don't perform due to a lack of motivation. The drop from 60-80K crowds to 8K or less outside the top 4 state owned clubs doesn't help either. And for those who say Benzema was not a top striker with an incredible career, this only shows how little you know about the sport. I've watched him explode to the scene at Lyon. Generational talent and technically one of the most gifted forwards I've seen in the last 20 years. 14! years at Real Madrid. 4 times Ligue 1 champion before moving to Madrid. 5 times Champions League winner with Madrid. 90 goals and 4th in the all-time ranking of CL goals (only Ronaldo/Messi/Lewandowski have more) 4 times French player of the year spread over a period of 10+ years … Incredible some still don't give him the credit he deserves.
