Of course Del Piero stayed—he was fully aware of all the shady deals Juventus had going on with referees and the Italian Federation during the Calciopoli scandal. As the team’s primary penalty taker, he directly benefited from Juve’s cheating more than anyone. No wonder he didn’t want to leave.

Marco is a truly good person. I used to see him at The Football Factory in NYC to watch calcio games. A genuinely kind person and a knowledgeable guy. The calcio community is lucky to have him. There will always be trolls, but Marco knows his stuff and I’m so happy to see where his hard work has gotten him.
