  1. She laughs when she feels emotional and wants to cry. So adorable!
In one World Cup she went through a defender's worst nightmares: an own goal in the final, and a take-down of a German player which could have resulted in a goal and her expulsion. She and her team were fortunate not to pay the price for either of these mistakes. Now that she has gone through them, she has that experience to learn from and make sure those mistakes don't happen again. That's huge to have those opportunities to learn so much so early in her career. Believe it or not, it's something to celebrate.

At the same time she can be proud to have had a fantastic World Cup overall, and cemented her abilities both offensively and defensively. She showed control over the ball, speed, fantastically timed and courageous slide tackles, etc, against the best players in the world. She also was an offensive threat to the other team both with her feet and her head. I'm excited to see her continue to contribute mightily to the USWNT. She has the potential to become one of the very best ever.

It doesn't hurt that she also happens to be drop dead gorgeous, which should help a lot with endorsements.

  2. Ah.  Tis true, the worst thing that can happen to a defender is a play that results in an opponents' goal.  It is so lucky that Germany missed their chance.  But the truth of it is, although Lloyd came on to have two incredible matches, Julie was consistently phenomenal throughout the World Cup, and in my view, she is the MVP for the WNT.

  3. Everyone always talks about Morgan and Solo and Wambach so overrated! Morgan misses so many opportunities for goals and Solo hardly ever has to make difficult saves because of these defenders like JJ. i root for the girls that are more underated Carli Lloyd, christen Press, julie Johnston, Meagan rapinoe etc

  4. Beautiful and so strong! She's crying cause she fucked up but at the end a little luck! Germany miss the penalty and with that non penalty goal for USA and a great second goal they won! She's fucking fine more than any of the other bitches in the team.

  5. I'm a veteran, I never cry,I teared up there and the footage of her right after the penalty. I felt so bad for her be cuz she felt at that moment she let the team down, not herself.

She's up for MVP w Lloyd and I think Krieger
I love that team, they all play hard, Krieger took protective headband at half cuz that game was too important to risk a header w it on. Solo icing the German and Lloyd suckering the goalie to the left. Young Brian owning the midfield.

They can win every game 1-0, every girl they put on the field knows her job and rarely if ever makes a mistake, Ohara prime example.
    Go USA 1 more game!!

  6. I love her! She plays so great and she's so strong. I felt bad for her when the penalty was called. She's had a great World Cup for it to have ended like it could have. Thank God it all worked out

  7. even is Sasic had scored and USA lost… Johnston has been a hero this WC…
I get how she'd beat herself up, but anyone who's been following the tourney…couldn't possibly look at her with disdain.

Luckily Sasic missed though…so… i suppose it doesn't really matter much now.

  8. JJ has been playing BOSS AF this WHOLE GOD DAMN cup. I hate that she feels like she let her team down when really shes been saving their asses this whole tournament. I guess thats the downside to being a defender (the mistakes are magnified). I hope someone makes her watch the highlights of each game so she knows how VITAL she has been to the US defense. Its 1 mistake bb and Germany didnt even score. stop dwelling on it. It happened, now lets learn. PICK yourself up and continue on with your BADASSERY.  I would even go as far as saying JJ has been the MVP of the WWC for the US.

  9. she is too hard to herself! She played an excellent worldcup till now and she was really one of the reasons usa came that far, mistakes happen ! She will learn form it , dont cry sweety , get the 3rd star <3

  10. JJ has been on point this whole damn tourney. One mistake and girl feels like she let the team down. The USWNT's defense has been the backbone in every single match so far and JJ has played every damn minute. We believe in you!!!

    I believe we will win!

  11. She played a great game, but 1 error that could have cost them…not really as the USA team were offensively wearing German down.  It could has been 4-1 USA but unlucky for missed opportunities.

  12. That's a real easy foul to call really.  Hopefully it won't happen again!  A defender KNOWS that if you grab, tug, push in the box, you will deal with the consequences…Play  smarter and don't get beat…
