Well, that didn’t take long for Cignetti to be Off the Table! And…Kiffin isn’t going to the B1G when ALL his Connections are mainly SEC-based (and despite the fact that 1. Kiffin has made Oxford his Own City, and 2. he promised his daughter he wouldn’t leave)! Nothing’s Absolute- but those are Glue Points!!
I understand the Ohio State folks saying Hartline isn’t leaving, but he’s still got to have his name out there to leverage those raises. It’s good business.
Hate to break it to you but being the OC at Ohio State is a better job than HC at Penn State.

Matt Rhule is a Penn State alum. Hartline will probably not be interested in going up against Ryan Day and Ohio State Buckeyes for the foreseeable future because that would end up getting him fired more than likely from Penn State who have high expectations already where Indiana doesn't have nearly as much. Hartline wants to be HC at Ohio State one day and getting fired from Penn State would not help make that a possibility. He didn't mention Fleck the HC at Minnesota. I believe that Fleck is right behind Day, Lanning and Cignetti as the fourth best HC in the Big Ten, him and Cignetti have done far more with less.

There is going to be alot of pressure on the next head coach. Expectations. Face it you might have a hand full of that can do what franklin did at Penn state and those coaches might be very happy where they currently coach. Nil and the portal has changed college football forever. If a coach is making 8 million and getting the support of the school they’re at, why jump into a hot bed of a job like Penn state? . I don’t think Penn state is going to get the pic of the crop like people think they are. Great program but lots of pressure for a championship

think there would be outrage by Penn State fans if they went for Matt Rhule, despite the history. They'd have been better off just keeping Franklin if they are gonna downgrade after spending $100m+ to make the change.

Cignetti is building and cementing his legacy at IU. Indiana has the potential to be the next powerhouse in the B1G. With the portal and emergence of IU being a contender there’ll get the recruiters and I believe the can be developed in Bloomington. Pay attention, Indy is modeling themselves after the Buckeyes. Penn State dosnr get to lay claim to Cignetti just because they’re sinking. I can’t stand that from their brand programs an what’s worse is that coaches will actually leave so that that big program can retain their relevancy, endowment and power.
Similar to Luke Fickell jumping from UC to Wisconsin. UC was going to build him a statue and he left just so badger fans could hate him.
Penn State shouldn’t worry bc unfortunately they will get Matt Rhule. Hes going to completely leave Nebraska behind and all their recent success and aid PSU in retaining their power. It’s disgusting. PSU should crash and burn.
