No one is saying they shouldn’t have drafted him, they just could’ve traded back a few picks and still got him. Over paying for a player especially a project is never a good idea.

They weren't 1 muffed punt away from beating Seattle. Seattle was driving at the end and if the score was them trailing, they probably score.
The opportunity to pick a top 2 QB prospect was there. For a top 3 NFL team, would be simply idiotic not to grab it. The top QB prospects, go always to bad teams. Not this time.
They could’ve traded up for Caleb Downs, since the Dolphins ended up trading his pick anyways, and this was probably the most valuable use of the pick. They could’ve taken Makai Lemon or Rueben Bain or Vega Ioane, and any one of these would’ve been better for their superbowl odds.
Instead they went for the long term option. If they don’t win the superbowl these next couple of years, it will be blamed on this pick. But they can also have the absolute best case scenario if they win the super bowl anyways and Ty Simpson ends up a stud. From a long term perspective, it makes sense why they did it, especially if they were high on Ty as a prospect.
Terrible pick at that spot. He’ll need on his second contract before I actually know what you have in him AFTER he’d coached up and developed enough.
