Other than the full backs, I can't really argue with this team …… Phil Neal has to be in ahead of TAA, because he could defend and was more consistent, an 8 out of 10 every week. Left back is up for debate, and Nicol isn't a bad shout, but I'd give it to Alan Kennedy.

Stevie Nicol was a great player for us…but he was not our greatest left back. Loads were better than him at LB. Riise, Bjornabye, Burrows, Beglin, Kennedy, Lindsay Byrne were all better. Stevie was usually a RB or MF.

As someone who regularly went to Anfield and away matches throughout the 1990s, I don't have any problems with Carragher's line up. Steve Nicol was a midfield player who became a defender. He also played on the wing, right midfield and left midfield. He scored 46 goals including a hattrick against Newcastle.
I'd have found a place for Ray Houghton and Mark Lawrenson.

Why is Jamie Carragher still on TV after his unacceptable behaviour. It's bazaar that he just appears on our screens via a major broadcaster and continues to do so. Spitting on a kid for no reason is literally unacceptable, no apology is enough for that.
Contrary to a poster below, none of that defence or midfield would make a Britain's greatest 11. The only names who would be seriously considered for a Britain's greatest 11 are the 2 up front! I don't believe they would make it in the final selection but they would be considered 👍
