Liverpool don't play quick enough football for their signings its that simple. Frimpong and Wirtz were strong at Leverkusen because they had space to run into, Wirtz in the channels and Frimpong was effectively a winger. Asking them to do completely different roles and expecting the same results is madness.

Clubs don’t really miss players they miss traits
Trent was elite at deep progression but no team should rely on one player for buildup
They miss a ball-playing CB (Konate’s passing is awful), a real 6 to control the game (Gravenberch is an 8), and fullbacks who can pass
Guehi and Wharton fit those roles
They also need a RB who can pass, changing formation won’t fix the buildup
Even in a 343 or 352 Konate, Kerkez, and Frimpong would still be poor on the ball

It’s not about missing Trent and it’s not about missing an English player. It’s about having the personnel but not playing them and when you do not playing them in a manner that compliments their strengths.
