I honestly don't think it's a stretch to call Van Dijk the single best defender in premier League history. No other defender across all leagues has come close to winning the Ballon d'Or in decades, and he very realistically deserved to win it in the Messi and Ronaldo era. He is in the conversation for best defender of all time full stop, among Maldini and all.
