He defeated the invincible team of last season ( Bayer L.) He was the only n nominated African player by FIFA for Ballon Di ol ending in 14 position to Rodri who eventually won. That's why he was named African footballer of the Year.
Nigeria needs to scout for more defenders and midfielders. Our strikers are amongst the best, but we don't have enough defensive players of the same quality presently. The workrate of our midfield and defensive play is not at championship level. Even the minnows come in and expect to score against us. This needs to stop. I was impressed with one of the CHAN Eagles in their game against Ghana. The NFF need to play them against the Eagles to sit them up.
