Singapore’s interim head coach Gavin Lee said he will discuss his long-term future with the football association after tomorrow’s crucial Asian Cup qualifier against Hong Kong. The 35-year-old is one win away from history by becoming the first coach to take the Lions to the major continental tournament on merit. His players said he has given them a new level of belief and a stronger desire to win. Aslam Shah reports.

  1. A win wont send Sg through. Sg and HK are tied at 8pts and has a same +2 goal difference.

If Sg win by a small margin, tht puts Sg w 11pts and HK 8pts w a game left to play. And if Sg lose to Bangladesh in the last game, and HK beats India by a big margin, HK might go through on GD.

  2. If the country has good and quality players, the coach has no worries at all. Luck plays an important in winning the goals when out of no where, the ball just come straight to the player and he just slam it inside the goal post. Don't you think so? Anyway and hopefully, good luck to Singapore if the ball comes to the player to kick into the goal post.

  3. Gavin has the right attitude and aptitude as a coach that his players will vouch for. All the talks about foreign coaches and we have one here right under our noses. Give Gavin the job FAS.

  4. Instead of making Gavin assistant to a foreign coach, how about the other way round. Give Gavin the job permanently and provide him capable foreign assistant coaches in attack, defence & goal keeping.

  5. 完全同意。所有马来西亚教练在执教表现上都比不上加文,加文彻底改变了新加坡队,提升了球队的水平。现在,哈里斯在加文的指导下,状态更好了,发挥也更出色了。

  6. Totally agree. All the Malay coach can't even beat Gavin in terms of performance like what Gavin has changed and has improved singapore team. Now even Harris look better and play better now with Gavin leading the team!

  7. This coach is better than all the past Malay coach even better than Sundram and Fandi Ahmad and better than all the past Japanese coach. All the past Malay and japanese coach can't even bring singapore to Asian Football Championship! Gavin is good and Gavin you are amazing and you have impressed me! Thank you Gavin!

  8. In a team full of original southeast asian Singaporeans, you chose the few East Asians for this interview. Similar to the English FA, the passive r a c i s m is apparent.
