2004 was a different time in MLS.
There were less teams, more physicality, and a different playoff structure. But ask anyone who followed the league at that time, and they’ll point to November 6, 2004 – an Eastern Conference Championship that had it all.
The game featured D.C. United hosting the New England Revolution at RFK Stadium. Both teams were hitting their stride heading into playoffs, and had a talented mix of young players and veterans. Names like Clint Dempsey, Taylor Twellman, Matt Reis, as well as Jaime Moreno, Nick Rimando, and Freddy Adu.
Revisit what many believe is one of the greatest playoffs games in MLS History, a game that had as much star power as drama, and not only cemented legacies, but also started them.

Even though the revs lost, what a match. Such an incredible spectacle to witness. Truly MLS at its finest.
The title of this video has a lot more faith in PRO and VAR than I do

Something something DEMPSEYYYY
“VaR is BULLSHIT” var ruined the way soccer has to be played..
DC United will never be champions again!!😂😂😂
The black eye 😂😂😂
Been a true DC United fan since 1996!
I WAS THERE! it was such a good game, and the stadium was hype…for the time. the quality of play in mls, and the level of the league in general is just infinitely higher today. so glad dc united got audi stadium, rfk was a bombed-out post-apocalyptic nightmare.
Dempsey looks like ozil.
My prediction is either lafc winning it or nyfc or seattle
we don't even consider new England as a rival
