When fighting to avoid ending a sentence in a preposition, I often run the risk of sounding like Yoda.
Great episode, Jesse…looking forward to seeing the show grow. Quick question…have you ever had to engage with local municipalities in an effort to gain some marketing for local growers? If so, how did you go about this?
I'm sorry to hear of the devastating consequences of the storm. I hope everyone is able to struggle through.
Invaluable advice Jesse.
I also love your videos. Thanks so much for taking the time/energy to do them and provide them to us. Awesome content! Thanks Jessie. (from New Zealand).
Something I think would be interesting / worthwhile would be you going back to those old videos and updating us on some of the experiments that you reported on initially.
Good news! I'm a professional full-time copyeditor for university presses (and homestead farmer, thank you so much for everything!), and there is NO RULE that says you should not put a preposition at the end of a sentence—every sentence, if you want to (see what I did there? and there? and here?) It's an urban legend and perennial myth—you're free! Save those grammar gymnastics for dad jokes. Disperse end-of-sentence prepositions liberally at every conversation you participate in. Remember, copyeditors are the people you can learn from. And put your trust in. And talk about grammar with. And so on (ha ha!)
I have had two polar opposite experiences soccer coaching. Either the kids hang on every word I say like its gospel. Or they just think they can do it better and don't really listen. When my word was gospel I had undefeated season and the kids passed and maintained possession like a collage team! All the other coaches asked how it the world did you get them to pass like that?! All I could say is they listened to me, and I had a really great coach I learned from.
Totally agree with the short instruction. I would warm up, one drill with instruction, then scrimmage for most of the practice. But when I say FREEZE, the kids have to stop for a 10 second instruction and then we play on. I just know when I was a kid all I wanted to do was scrimmage/play! I also set one specific thing per practice to focus on.
If itβs considered invasive that just means your hedge will grow faster and will need more upkeep but it can protect your slower growing plants
Brother, you inspire me on those hard days I think about quitting, there has been too many of those of late. I left all of the gardening groups because I realized by the time I formed a useful question I had already found what I was looking for, if that makes sense. Went through my beginning years hearing people tell me I could not grow food like I wanted to, so your show and this niche has been like finding old friends. Watching your show is both entertaining, and it usually either confirms or denies my own running ideas and experiments. I love it, please never stop. I ordered a no till growers and wearing it in town and I had a fella walk up and say "Hey Nerds!" . So you are truly influencing people in a positive way. Thanks homey!
Hey for some reason the Spotify description cut off before the link to Dan's preorder.
Also, I took a lot away from the coaching bit. I manage a small team and while it's all technical, I'm trying to think how similar things could be incorporated into me teaching my employees
A great person who talks about the quick chat in sports/education (probably business too!) is someone called Mark Bennett. He's done great explanations of his method on Changing the Game Project and Talent Equation podcasts. He's also big on individuals self-organizing based upon shared understanding of what the ideal outcomes are.
Came here for farming left with advice to better my at work and at home life.
I really appreciate these videos and like them a lot. Please keep them coming!
I came for a 12 minutes interaction about how interactions should last 8-12 seconds, and I was not disappointed. Hahahaha. Instant favorites list.
That is the kind of English up with which I will not put.
That is the kind of English I will not put up with.
There are times a preposition belongs at the end of a sentence. I take English seriously.
New videos of the same things and new dad jokes is fine with me! I repeat the same old videos all the time.
Loving this! The ability for you to include soccer in this format makes it even more interesting. Who do you like in the Champions League?
An underrated aspect of your videos is the lighting. I think your new podcast would look a whole lot better with outdoor lighting. Cheers!
You must be a great coach
Fabulous talk Jesse. Would love to hear more coaching strategies. Iβm a new U10 coach and always looking to develop.
You are loved, and to those I love I say βenjoy your life because thatβs where you are useful β. When you have regenerated we will welcome you with open arms. Put on your own oxygen mask
I love ALL No-Till Growers videos!
The kids are extremely fortunate to have you, Jesse The Salinova Slayer of Central Kentucky!ππ
Been with you a year or so, I really appreciate you and your channel.
This new series is great, works well for me a i get to ingest it after work and reinvigorate
I'm a teacher. Context is everything. And scaffolding knowledge, adding details/skills bit by bit is a primary teaching/learning concept! So great points!
this is unreal! i am getting growing insight and soccer coaching help all in ONE podcast! (i am not a soccer player who is now coaching my kids team)
I understand how burn out occurs and that you may not feel like you are putting out relevant content in video or podcast. I have an appreciation for repetition. I often watch the same video multiple times to pick up nuances that may have slipped by the first time. I have a real appreciation for your efforts. Keep up the good work.
Impressed by your ability to constructively self evaluate and know when to make a change. It was interesting to hear how this has helped you adapt through different forms of content. All of it TOP TIER I mean the production quality is incredible and WHILE farming and raising kids. I think your work life balance and understanding of yourself and your family seems pretty commendable. β€
