May of been an idea to have vini & Mbappe press from the outside of the PSG centre backs. Screening the fullbacks.

It’s wild that vini and mbappe act like they don’t need to track back, honestly to me they’re not big enough stars to have egos that big, I don’t get excited watching them or hear that much about them. They still have a lot to prove but have gotten stagnant and lazy. If they start to press like dembele does, Real Madrid would be a force to reckon with. But sadly those players think they’re too good to play football. They’ll be irrelevant 10 years from now as “the streets won’t forget” type players.
Totally Alonso's fault with the lineup. Trying to beat PSG in their own game. He should've played 3-6-1. Rudiger, Ascensio and militao in defence, Fran and cavajal as wing backs , valverde and camavinga on both sides of midfield tchouameni as central mid and Bellingham behind mbappe. Psg wouldn't know what to do against a flooded midfield and flanks. Why would you ask the best goalscorer in Europe to press instead ofe saving his energy to make runs and exploit spaces. Give this group of players to a flexible and brave coach like mourinho and he would win you everything. Alonso won't last after Christmas maybe he still thinks he's at Bayer Leverkusen. You can't teach and expect elite horses to graft like donkeys.

IMHO, the main factor in current PSG dominance is the speed of their transitions from defending to attacking.. they go from their own defensive zone to their opponent's own in seconds.. and the gaps are open… and with Dembele, Doue or Kvaratshkelia to convert these gaps into goals.. what wrong could happen.. The only way they can be beaten is by a team pressing in the same bulldog like fashion

if Alonso can't switch his tactic to a more conservative approach, he's gonna be in a lot of trouble this season. And long term I think Vinicius might have to be sold and replaced with a player who offers more balance.
