West Ham went 10 matches without a win, forcing manager Nuno Espírito Santo to abandon his old tactics, and the change has paid off with back-to-back victories.

In this episode of The Breakdown, @JamesLawrenceAllcott breaks down Nuno’s new approach, why their right-back now operates more like a midfielder in possession, and how the club’s new signings are having a huge impact on their style of play.

  1. Moyes instilled this bizarre phenomenon side way passing and is still haunting the hammers Nuno trying his best to bury this Moyes ball bs but it’ll take time I am afraid. 😟

  2. It’s not a tactical change with AWB. He naturally comes inside so often you’d think he’s a natural central midfielder playing out of position at full back

  3. Excellent analysis. We all (West Ham fans) make blanket assumptions about players and the Manager but this video shows the big picture and what's really going on .
Thank you for making this one, really enjoyed it.

  4. Very interesting analysis. Jury is out on Pablo with some supporters but for me he’s integral to the new set up,goals will hopefully come but his work rate is brilliant is excellent. Test will be if we go behind and we need a creative talent to open up defenses.

  5. Nuno’s tactics are part of the reason the club are in a relegation battle.

HORRIBLE lineup choices caused the loss of easy points against Leeds and Brentford. Sitting back and trying to hold a lead when the team has a horrible defense instead of attacking has also caused draws instead of holding onto a win. Buying unproven strikers via his preferred agent to get a kickback, instead of defensive players that we desperately needed.

Paco Jemez coming in as assistant coach and being more attack minded is helpful, but Nuno was the wrong person for this job.
