  1. People forget that Klopp's focus less on a press and more on a counter-press – so the transition phase – it's the counter-press that he said was better than any number 10

  2. Liverpool has always been good against teams like City under Klopp, Arne Slot has brought more balance and tactical flexibility. He's basically kept all the good ideas and managed to fix their issues simultaneously

  3. I think these young, shall we say 'project' managers at clubs with elite players, have totally solved the issue of teams playing out from the back, the science of pressing is finally in the ascendency and teams who insist on playing out from the back who don't have elite players, which is almost every team in the country, will have to develop a hybrid system where they go long at least half of the time cos it seems like 75% of goals from the champs league down to league 2 are now coming from terrible mistakes teams are making whilst playing out…something has to give here

  4. Can you please please please do a video on the importance game state for Liverpool? they are so, so good when ahead because it baits teams forward and creates space among other things. when they inevitably lose a game, i'm sure it will be because they have trouble getting a lead and then don't necessarily have the Odegaard type of player to break down a team with a clever through ball

  5. Anyone else notice (about 5 games this season) how Liverpool almost creates a mesh formation against tricky ball carriers? Doku and Rodrygo definitely do

  6. Pressing City, especially their midfield, is the go-to way of getting a result vs them. I did worry before the game that Slot was going to use his usual style and allow them to have the ball in midfield, giving them too much respect. But in that first half, we battered them and gave that midfield as little time as they earned. Different story in the second but perfect game management from Slot.

  7. Love how Slot is able to incorporate his own ideas while still maintaining Klopp’s vision. Against teams that sit back they now build up more patiently and try to bait opponents, against top teams they will go more direct just like they did under Klopp
