Pressure, adrenaline, plus a lot of variables: balance being just off, ball coming just too quickly, the defense being just close enough to put you off, foot bent an inch the wrong way, the grass being wet, the ball bouncing up just one mm higher at the last second, still feeling the kick on your ankle from five minutes before… it's very easy to criticise, but if you've played even one game of football before, you'll understand.
