A deadly brawl broke out between opposing supporters of Mexico’s Liga MX teams Atlas and Queretaro, with local media reporting that at least 17 fans have died as a result of the violence with dozens more being injured. As someone from queretaro I can tell u that football violence is something very normal in the barrios, but never on a massive stage.
Many just look past this because I know like every other person here, that there really isn’t going to be a huge investigation, we’ve become desensitized, just like Americas have become desensitized to school shootings.
I’m actually surprised most americans don’t know this sad reality in Latin America football is that it can get ugly fast.
I was literally wearing a America de Cali shirt one day (one of the top three teams in Colombia and my favorite) and a hincha from Deportivo Cali (another of the three and not even rival but enemy of America) was picking a fight with me because of the shirt jajajaja imagine that, and that was in QUERETARO. If I was in Cali he probably would have tried to kill me. I say this because there are literally videos of them stabbing each other.
