The penalty kick cannot be such one because the first defender is clearly in front of the attacker and thus plays the ball. The attacker therefore has no chance to reach the ball.
Thus, the referee's decision is wrong and the intervention of the VAR is absolutely necessary.
Unfortunately, the referees in the MLS and the NWSL are so bad. And not even close to the international top level.
I find the commentators at least as bad, who do not present an informed or rules-compliant assessment of the scene. Unbelievably weak!
Fake MLS
Ahhhhh Gave the game away!
Loons are no goons🦢
No Celío no party
Damn st louis shows up for this team
(3:55) 22 shouldn't have stuck his leg out, but 2 had already passed it back to the goalie. Even had 22 not been there to impede the attacker, it would have been out of his reach. Any foul inside that box results in a penalty kick? Even if the ball is out of reach?
Minnesota United Penalty Kickers
CITY played great, this one could have gone either way. We were putting pressure on them the entire game and never let up. MIN is a very tough defensive team but we still had our chances. The PK was unfortunate but fair, and it's always going to be tough to stop that from going in. All you can do is tip your hat to them for a well executed game to win on the road, and look ahead to Seattle. We were never going to go undefeated, we're still 1st in the west and playing at an elite level.
Sad loss for StL. They dominated the match and had so many chances. Minnesota didn't look that threatening besides that bad decision by Hiebert. Hope they don't let this loss get in their heads, they still played well.
Minessota played like a small team, got lucky on that pen, eventually if they don’t step it up I see SL making it further than they will
should have been a draw… terrible officiating, but not like we deserved to win
COYL
Out of all teams they lose to Minnesota…..🥲
Damm, the streak ends… 😐
bout time the luck streak ends huh 🤣🤣🤣🤣
People didn't give Minnesota a chance. MU is good told ya
The reason the MLS will always be pathetic is because of their referees. This league should have grown by now and it’s pretty stagnant because they have poor production for games.
The funniest part about the penalty is that it wasn't really DOGSO, it was more regular foul play
Such a close match! GG St. Louis. You guys definitely had a lot of opportunities! Even though I will take the penalty, it was pretty close and we probably got away with that instead of the free kick, but 🤷
Stroud yellow was atrocious. Another angle shows 0 contact. Such a blatant flop.
St. Louis lol. What a ghetto. You will get mugged or shot on the way home.
VAMOS MINNESOTA
Minnesota gets a bit of luck their way after a bad end last week. They're playing great team soccer and I'm happy Reynoso isn't there. I still don't understand how Amarilla is in the lineup. He keeps missing the goal and is slow. He doesn't deserve a #9. St.Clair played a great game! Onwards MNUFC!
Gostei do uniforme do St. Louis
It’s called the cross bar … not the bar
I think I speak for the entire league when I say HELL YES🎉
City had plenty of chances to get that win. Kinda glad the streak is over tbh, it was starting to become a thing. Keep up the good work boys!
This loss was necessary; we've been giving the ball away too much and it bit us in the ass.
good, they finally lost a game!! We're coming back for revenge — ATX!!
You can't always win,,,😏😏lucky Minnesota,,,,,,😈
This is what I’m loving about Minnesota right now no matter how we play we win 🖤💙
Minnesota has the best uniforms in MLS.
Amarilla thinks he is Ronaldo 😂
If I watch Highlights, I want a close look at the fouls that resulted a card.
It wasn't penalty at all and that stupid St. Lous's defense player made a big mistake.
Let’s go LOONS!!! What a unbelievably upset Win!!!😱😱⚽️⚽️
St. Louis City plays with so much passion. Even in a loss you love to see it.
All good things come to an end. That's ok. Still in first place. On to the next!
Pra mim o St Louis é o favorito esse ano ,é um time muito agressivo ataca o tempo inteiro .O zagueiro fez aquele pênalti estúpido
Rip win streak
On the other hand, this young St. Louis team looks like it could continue to surprise people. You're not gonna win every game, but even in this loss the scoring opportunities were there, just not converted this game, and it was one bad pass and one bad decision that led to the only goal they allowed. Title contention may be ambitious but in years to come, in a city that's known for running their professional sports organizations so well, who knows?
Maybe idk much about soccer but the penalty call that decided the game looked a hell of a lot like a flop to me. I'm not even sure if the defender hit the guy and if he did he only clipped him, and he jumped before contact was made to sell the call anyway. I just don't know how you can give a PK for that so late in a scoreless game
Good game STL.Sometimes you just can't score…Klauss and Gioacchini were not playing well tonight, they were making so many mnistakes.I hope it'll be better next week. All For City!
The shooting questions remain for the Loons but grit, fight, and Kervin Arriaga are undeniable 5 games in.
Their organization, especially defensively, is much improved over last year but their pass accuracy and cohesion has taken a drop. My guess is because they don't have Reynoso mediating in the middle anymore.
Fortunately Lod and Arriaga are picking up some of that slack. It was a much better game than I expected and I'm happy to see them take down the indomitable new comers who I thought were going to spank us like they have most opponents in CITYPARK.
Que Wonderwall!!
dominated the game but a silly challenge ended their miracle streak.
Know'm say'n..
