This was my first ever Timbers match. So wild. It had the Silvestre Shocker and the first instance of magic from Valeri. Yet it was a home draw. I hate home draws.
I remember this game. It was nuts.
This Valari guy looks decent.
Greatest MLS regular season game for a neutral fan. period.
ta gets pretty quiet when theyre losing
I was at this match, what a great atmosphere. I always heard that its more fun to see a game live rather than on TV, boy were they right. I am now a committed Timbers Fan for life. RCTID!
Amazing comeback by the Timbers. 🙂
Dick the red bulls
As a longtime fan of the Blazers, I'm really happy to see Portland represented by a good soccer team + great fans. So, now I need to make two stops when I eventually come over for a visit. 🙂
I meant ny red bulls
It sucks that thiery Henry tim Cahill and espindola are stuck in my red bulls cause they are great players that are stuck in a crap team
History. You forget that the US had NASL back in the day. NASL was one of the best leagues in the world at one point. Most of th teams till exist. Portland was drawing like 30,000 + back then.
Yea..i can SEE that lol..
im asking why wouldt a city with a crappy team like it so much?
Well, soccer is very popular in Portland..
Yea but I mean in a country where "soccer" isnt popular why would a city with a crappy team watch it?
True fans come to see a club play win, lose or draw. Must be a far weather fan. RCTID PTFC
Holy crap.
Why does Portland Timbers have so many fans?
I thought they were a terrible team?
someone explain?
true. Give it another 5 or 6 years. in its first 17 years, the nfl, mlb, nhl and nba were all very unstable, with franchises moving every year or 2. The mls is decades ahead of them.
MLS has overtaken the NHL in attendance. meaning when people talk about the big four leagues, replace NHL with MLS.
blazerMania. Alive since 1977. 814 sellout streak from 77 to 95, ending only becasue we moved to a bigger building, and then resumed for 6 more seasons until we hit the Jailblazer era. That sellout streak is the longest in american pro sports. Portland has probably te best fans of any sport in america.
I love how pumped up the crowd gets after the 2nd timbers goal
lol silvestre not his best day
