  1. @hello me mls is at a European level. Mls is not at a big 5 level but if you think the icelandic, irish, ukranian (besides shaktar), and other smaller European countries leagues are better then you are wrong. Also australia, south africa, japan, and Canada all call it soccer there is even a show in england called soccer morning. People do not get mad at italy for calling it calico so why at on americans for calling it soccer a word which was invented where the sport was created?

  2. To all who are arguing about american vs. european football:

US football is like european basketball – it just sucks!

MLS teams will never be able to compete with european teams, they even can't keep up! The MLS is just a league in which former good european as well as south american players, who wouldn't have a chance getting a position within their team because they're too old and past one's best, are after lengthen their career after it's already over. Sorry guys, but that's the truth!

There's absolutely no way for the best US teams there are beating one upper class european team, even less if there would be a serious global team competition european teams would take seriously. But there's nothing like that. Matches between US teams and european teams are just marketing gags no european team really can take seriously. They play like in a little training match, and that's all what those matches are. Imagine the US Basketball Dream Team playing in Europe against any insignificant european team. It's just like that.

Don't get me wrong, I'm pleased that football is getting more popular in the US (even if americans wrongly call it soccer) and I'm sure there are many real fans supporting their team like fans in Europe, come what may. But please remain objektive! US football can never compete with european football, like european basketball can't stick with american basketball.

And please stop calling it soccer! You have to play the ball with your foot, that's why it's called football! Instead of calling american football football, better call it american rugby. That would fit better. Basically that's what it truly is. 🙂

  3. Hard to compare leagues because it's not in Europe, but there is a lot of good leagues in Europe that it has to catch up on I would think. Not just the big 5 but the dutch, russian, Ukrainian, Turkish as well as the championship.
