HIGHLIGHTS: MLS All-Stars vs. Arsenal | July 19, 2023

The MLS All-Stars welcomed a European foe for the first time since facing Spain’s Atlético Madrid in 2019. The format change ended their two-year winning streak, though, after beating Liga MX’s best in back-to-back fashion from 2021-22. While the result wasn’t favorable, the annual summertime showcase had a celebratory mood after a week full of moments like visiting the White House and training at the National Mall.

  1. This whole thing handicaps the MLS all-stars so much. These are a group of people who have never played with each other before (more usually being opponents actually), then you realize that the game is in the middle of the MLS season while the premier league has this time off. So the MLS players are more focused on getting back to their respective teams to win a cup. There more but I'll leave it here.

  2. Why does everything seem so slow? it's like the whole match is a slo-mo replay…thought I was going crazy then realized why soccer and football aren't the same thing.
I mean I know they're not a proper team but even individually – wow that was bad😅

  3. MLS is so scuffed. Basically a retirement home for players who aren't good enough to play in a semi-relevant league or, nowadays, get bought by some Saudi club.

  4. It's expected that a professional team would have better teamwork than an Allstar combine. They train and practice plays together. IT would have been much better to have the top MLS team vs Arsenal.
