This looks like one well coached, well-oiled machine in Argentina.This was a great win for them against Brazil. Despite Lionel Messi being absent due to injury, he was not needed. At any time, you go up against the greatest winning team in history without your leader, it says a lot of how Argentina has matured on their own. If they continue to dominate like this, I have no doubt they can defend their title in the 2026 WC.
That’s why I always said World Cup 🏆 or club championships🏆 are a team effort. No single player can win it by himself. Argentina was a World Cup contender with or without Messi couple of years ago. Messi was like a cherry on the top. Already a great team throw Messi in with his talent and it’s a recipe for WC 🏆. Ditto with throwing Messi in a super talented club like Barcelona. Easier to win those championships 🏆. On the other hand Portugal is no where near the level of Argentina. Never has talent wise and never picked above Argentina. The overall favorites have been like of Argentina, France, Spain, Brazil etc. Thus, it’s not a knock on CR7 if he doesn’t win World Cup. Portugal is not Argentina. Portugal with or without CR7 is a good team but Argentina with or without Messi a great team.
