I think it is a sign of the times we live in as US soccer fans that we can say "Matthew Hoppe's no Clint Dempsey" and not see the irony. Hoppe played in the Bundesliga this past year. At Hoppe's age, Dempsey was playing college soccer (a part-time gig) and was six years away from his eventual transfer from the Revs to Fulham. Maybe in six years if Hoppe's still trying and failing to do things Dempsey did, then OK. But he's got an awful lot of runway ahead of him, and a substantial head start. I say let him experiment, try stuff, and figure it all out. He's at least gotta be legal to order alcohol in the US before we tell him who he can and cannot become as a player

Biggest takeaway from this one was how bad the pitch was…the guys could barely play…absolutely pathetic from concacaf. If you want people to take you seriously you have to take yourself seriously. Can’t play a North American championship knockout stage game on a pitch that bad again. SMH
