  1. Beating Mexico at home like this is nothing new. El Tri went 10 years between wins over us on American soil from 1999-2009. Second of all, outside of head-to-head, Mexico still performs better than us against common opponents, both inside and outside of CONCACAF.

  2. Mexico is just going through a rough patch like how US dead win they didn’t make the World Cup the difference is with time the USMNT made changes ever since the 2018 World Cup Mexicos federation has been the same

  3. Plus the usmnt coach isnt very good at tactics, you don't want your midfield scoring goals like the last game, you need to move the ball the length and the width of the pitch down to the final 3rd so your strikers can score easy goals.

  4. The number of players in Europe and in the top 5 leagues in Europe between the US and Mexico is staggering. US is miles above but they'll probably still be unsuccessful once they play countries outside of their current typical games.

  5. I think the US has better talent right now for sure, mainly because we’re allowing our best young players to go to Europe to develop.

However, Berhalter is still an impediment to this team punching above their weight class, has he slowly gotten better at his call ups/rosters, yes, but kicking and screaming. The fact we are applauding simple things like making correct substitutions shows how low the bar is for him as a manager. And his tactical inflexibility is a serious problem, the Jamaica match being an example. He’s gotten slightly better, but every match he has to mix in some head scratchers. Finally starts Gio, but then has him play to deep. Rotates McKennie to wing back. It’s like he is incapable of not overthinking things. Or he’s too stubborn to do what everyone can see is the right solution, so he has to put some dumb twist on it so he can say it’s his idea.

  6. At the moment Mexico is dealing with a poor federation and not nourishing their talent. When they figure that out they will be a more viable opponent simple so it can compete. Not concerned about the rest of CONCACAF, but we do need to get invites to the other federation tournaments to keep growing.

  7. We Americans will get a reality check once we play Uruguay In the copa America. Being the best in CONCACAF ain’t saying much vs the elite teams in South America and Europe.

  8. USMNT barely survives Jamaica – and now you think they’ve outgrown El Tri… we can run with anybody, but skills and strategic approach are decades behind. Our guys have to play in Europe with the coaching that comes with it.
Was a nice U23 match vs France.

  9. American here. Nope. The media is hyping the USMNT team now but a few days ago the media and pundits were criticizing the team for their horrible performances against the minnows of CONCACAF. As always, the USMNT is one loss away from "the sky is falling again".

  10. Mexico's core problem is that the federation is entirely beholden to LMX. Player movement is extremely constrained, and the national team has a revolving door at coach.

  11. Absolutely. No denying it. Outgrown by miles.
    3 b2b concacaf titles
Always winning gold cup now if they send their a or b squad.
Drew Olympic France 2-2. When was the last mexico got a win or draw?
Almost every team in mls is in many ways better than mexican clubs outside the "gigante cuartro". We get all the stars that north america gets. Mexicos star Thauvin just left for udinesse.
Mexico got grouped; USA made it to round of 16 of 2022.

Liga MX league structure is HORRIBLE. They removed relegation (it works over there but not here and if you reply ill explain that too) and its just the strange two parted "apertua-clausera"

Yes our cup is a MESS
.. But mexico has NONE. No domesric cup. Only Liga MX and Leagues Cup.

I can go on and on and on and on and on of reasons why usa has outgrown mexico.
Majority of aspects of mexican footy is very behind now.

But the question is? How long will USA dominate the continent and its islands? Time will tell.

Tl;dr Yes. Mexico has lost its grip on club and country. If nothing changes then dont be shocked if usa-mexico dual nationals start choosing usmnt.
