When I was 18 (USA) club team played the U18 club team from Paisley, Scotland in a tournament. They were really gritty, tough and chippy guys. I enjoyed the tough battle and it was one of my favorite games I remember. Once the final whistle blew, we all shook hands and had a laugh about it.
I am 6’3” and 205lbs, which is big for a footballer. May be a reason I enjoy a more physical game.

Hickey was getting beat the entire game so he proceeded to hold #15 for the entire match. It gets really annoying watching a desperate man struggle to accept someone is faster than him.. Not to mention the Oscar performances of 5 second 'injuries'
Nice for Scotland to get away with pulling arms of the opposition multiple times. They finally called a foul–but then they called it on the Haitian player, even though the Scot hand ahold of his arm the whole play!
The well established teams in all groups, always play their first game against the weaker ones, and end up getting match practice as well as scoring more goals, big points in the group. Almost every group has a top european team and their first games are like warm up. Check it out. Even the refereeing is protective of the top ranked players to keep them from getting hurt and no yellow cards given. They all reach the round of 16 almost all the time.
This is not fair for all other nations.

Haiti got so many chances which I applaud for sure. But the selfishness of so many of those players is one of the reason why they didn’t deserve a goal, especially their last chance. Maybe they can still get points against the much better teams of Brazil and Morocco
