  1. Chara's uncalled armbar reinforces the common belief that MLS actually likes pro wrestling moves. I estimate he was about 4-5 inches from breaking a star player's arm there.

Also, wasn't there actual recent IFAB referee guidance that specifically stated that a ball going off the arm of someone bracing themself for going to ground was not to be called?

  2. I have to disagree with you yet again Wiebe, because what a surprise you do not understand the laws of the game.
Law 12 from IFAB in regards to Handling the Balls states:
"It is an offence if a player:
-deliberately touches the ball with their hand/arm, for example moving the hand/arm towards the ball
-touches the ball with their hand/arm when it has made their body unnaturally bigger. A player is considered to have made their body unnaturally bigger when the position of their hand/arm is not a consequence of, or justifiable by, the player’s body movement for that specific situation. By having their hand/arm in such a position, the player takes a risk of their hand/arm being hit by the ball and being penalised
    -scores in the opponents’ goal:
directly from their hand/arm, even if accidental, including by the goalkeeper
immediately after the ball has touched their hand/arm, even if accidental"
There are three parts to this law that we can look at. The first part is deliberately touches the ball. Well his arm is behind him as he is going down towards the grown and his arm is going towards the ground to brace himself so NO, he is not guilty of deliberately handling the ball. The third part is irrelevant as he is the defending player and no goal was scored as a result which leaves the send part only to look at.
Was his arm in an unnatural position with the intent to make himself unnaturally bigger? Again no. His arm was coming down to brace himself for the impact as he was sliding into the challenge to block the attempted cross. Furthermore the ball is clearly deflected off of his left calf before it goes between his legs (which is the only reason it goes between his legs) and strikes his arms. So not only was this a case of BALL TO HAND this was a case of the ball being deflected off of his LEG first which altered the trajectory of the path of the ball leaving him with less than half of a second to react while he was falling towards the ground. This was NOT a handball by the letter of the law. This was a horrible call by the on-field ref (who had a fairly decent game aside from this call) and this absolutely should have been overturned by VAR. And if you had any clue about the laws of the game, and after sever years of hosting this show you have shown week after week that you literally have none, you would have known this as well.

  3. Not a bang bang play, Klauss definitely fouled Agada. Not at all shocked that the official MLS reporters are overlooking horrendous officiating again. The Durkin one was less problematic, but Klauss got away with a dangerous play. He didn’t even play the ball remotely, you can’t just shoulder a guy for fun and call it shoulder to shoulder

  4. Weibe on drugs? Klaus is 100% a foul. He isn't playing the ball at all. The direction he's taking is to take the skc player out. Shoulder to shoulder doesnt matter if hes straight up body checking someone. honestly think I'm taking crazy pills listening to this

Regan is also not a red. Yellow yes but never a red. If this is a red, we'd see reds in nearly every other game

    Wtf is this analysis?

  5. the second one looked bad. if that is allowed then put it in the rules. that in fact may be an interesting concept and interesting version of footbal. but with the current rules, that should not be allowed

  6. If those shoulder charges are completely legal in your opinion, despite the fact that the offending player played the man entirely, I don't ever want to hear you approve of a soft foul being called on the pitch as being the correct call.
And the RSL game, either the RSL player dove… which is not what you suggested, or the defender with his superior speed should have been capable of getting goal side to defend instead of taking the attacker down.

  7. Us Sounders fans didn't like how Ragen's wasn't on purpose and his leg was already on the ground before his cleat touched him, making it impossible to avoid (which us Sounders get cleated every game and opponents rarely get carded, yet alone a red). We definitely agree Alex Roldan's was fair.

  8. Is it possible to have a version of intstant replay covered by someone who knows the laws of the game and can speak frankly rather than someone who just says whatever MLS tells them to say?

  9. MTL goalie Sirois getting that foul was a bit far fetched. He touched the ball, therefore completing his main role as a goalie. too bad if the attacker didn't shot before, the goaler's exit was well calculated.

  10. Are you freaking kidding me on that second goal? He didn’t play the ball at all. He just went straight threw him. This isn’t freaking hockey. With your logic, you can just blow people over as long as you use your shoulder. Freaking stupid take. He goes away from the ball to plow him over. I’m not a fan of SKC. Actually hate them. But this is ridiculous
