This game shines a light on Graham Arnold’s managerial brilliance. He’s assembled the squad. You can’t say that his subs didn’t make an impact. Miller was probably the Man of the Match and O’Neill came of the bench and added physicality.
These were game changing moves that Arnold made. Good on him 🙂 No other coach in the world can influence the game with subs like that

Good team bad coach – how many chances has Arnold blown away through bad decisions and defensive play. Did the same thing to the U21 when he was in charge, time for a change.
Bringing on a 3rd centerback last 10mins invited pressure and changed the mindset

After being around high level soccer for several years the selection process is far from choosing the best players for the job, many underlying factors destroy up and coming players opportunities and are brushes aside for influence and wealth simple really.

Australia had 3 or 4 clear chances for scoring and incredibly failed. No excuses. Just a bad team.
This coach needs to pass on the responsibility to a new caretaker and custodian of Australia's football standing. He is spent and should have called time at the end of the WC. Sometimes you got to know when to fold.

Look Arnie, Korea are an amazingly good front third team. But their weakness is their defence. You made changes in the second half and had tactics that were dyer to the team. You brought on Miller who hasn’t played the entire tournament to play on Son who switched to the right wing and got carved up. You took Goodwin off too early, you left Duke on the entire game who was having an absolute mare, you started with Baccus and Metcalf again who are not up to the standard of the national team starting midfielders. Yengi and Tilio are two of the most talented young footballers we have and they hardly played! Your style of game is atrocious and what annoys me the most you failed to plan. You changed the team so that if it went to extra time the team was so defensive that we had no chance of creating and scoring in the event we needed to attack again! Who was going to take penalties? 5 defenders?? Just walk mate.

Hope Arnie stays on but he's earned the right to decide. Done a fine job, the World Cup alone where he won 2 group games and were unlucky against Argentina, then a minute away from winning, he can't legislate for poor decisions and sitters. I say that as someone whos not played elite level football,. Everyone makes mistakes, hope Miller recovers, and he will I'm sure, loved Arnie's reply saying he'd put his arm around him.

Both the penalty and free kick were two of those horrible situations in football. Lightning struck the same player twice. AUS played well and KOR played well. While disappointed, I am not angry. It was one of those matches. Well done Arnie and AUS. Good luck Korea.
