  1. TELL IT FOR WHAT IT IS….WORLD CLASS FUTBOL ITS LIKE A BEAUTIFUL AND MASTERFUL GAME OF CHESS, THE PAWNS BREAKING INTO THE DEFENSE, SYSTEMATICALLY. LIKE A GREAT BOXER GOING TO THE BODY…AND BREAKING DOWN HIS OPPONENT. THE MLS IS SO BORING BECAUSE THESE DEFENSES ARE ALREADY BROKE DOWN AND ITS A MAD DASH TO THE NETS!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. I agree with Wiebe on all fronts about the Gold cup's greater purpose. I don't like that teams from the same group can play in the semifinal and I hate the canned national anthems (are they speeding those things up or is it just me?). The Gold Cup and the Open Cup are keepers! Let's just continue to get better television coverage.

Love the show but could do with a few less bits (Bobby's right)…

  3. Happy Tuesday, folks. Here are the timestamps. Disrespect the Gold Cup at your own peril.

2:18 – MLS Skills Challenge is back! Seriously, get pumped

12:08 – USMNT are on to the Gold Cup semifinals, but there is reason for concern

18:22 – Why the US need Altidore at center forward (and how Zardes can still help)

27:02 – Looking ahead to US-Jamaica in the Gold Cup semifinal

32:35 – Canada choke. Why and how? And what’s next?

39:40 – RANT: Why Gold Cup haters need to crawl under a rock

46:40 – MLS Week 17: Quakes on the come up! Non-playoff teams that could rise…

  4. "I want to be at one of those parties in Port-au-Prince"

that's got to be the single most stupid thing I've ever heard anybody say. You don't want to be there. My father and I went to rebuild their entire drainage system after the earthquake with a company from Texas. the poverty level is insane people walked in the streets without clothes. And the friends that I did make there are still living the same way they did a year or two after the quake. That's a very ignorant statement to make dude.

  5. Wiebe’s inner journalist is shining through in his love for the Gold Cup for its esoteric storylines (which I also love). I wish more so-called soccer fans in America would look beyond the surface and see the wonderful people, cultures and sporting drama in our own region’s backyard.

  6. Yes, the Gold Cup is a disaster and a waste of time. Top players skip it, somehow the US & Mexico are never on the same side, it happens far too often, and so many other things are a waste.

  7. I am Brazilian, and I really enjoy the Gold Cup, specially now that the U.S. is closing the gap in number of titles with Mexico and building this interesting local rivalry.
People in S.America, in particular most of our dumb sports media members, ignore the development of football/soccer in Concacaf. I believe Liga MX and the MLS are enough for us to always take a look and enjoy football in that region. I just hope that countries like Costa Rica and Jamaica are able to keep improving their game and being competitive.

  8. Look man I'm all for getting the region better, but the current form of the Gold Cup is becoming more and more a waste of time. Just look at the stands for even USA man, it was EMPTY. And it wasn't just Steve Nicol, we had a former Gold Cup winner also say it's losing relevance on that same vid. The tournament needs to change. Start by moving it to 4 years. Nations league is already helping out the rest of CONCACAF.

  9. Gold Cup is a truly pointless tournament. US and Mexico need to ditch CONCACAF immediately for CONMEBOL in order to have any meaningful further growth.

But then again, Club>>>>>>>>Country so overall I just shrug at the US Ninja Turtles

  10. In talking about gold cup one question I would ask is:
How can Concacaf help make the gold cup more competitive and raise the level quality/talent in Central America and the Caribbean to match or exceed Mexico and US?

  11. We as a country have to believe in the process simple to believe we have to as fans, we put too much pressure on this generation to perform at the highest level at game. Concacaf has improved that what wil keep the gold cup relevant.
