  1. Don't you get why he chose Italy:
-Italy: his family heritage, USA: nationality by birth only.
-Italy: highest world cup winners in history after Brazil and one of the most prestigious teams in Int'l football, USA: no world cup wins and not much WC or "soccer" prestige.
-Italy: a country out of the many where football is the number one sport, USA; where most people don't even care about "soccer" in the first place.

  2. @idleonline:"u can't have soccer-hate propaganda all over the country"

And where is the so called propaganda? I love it how you soccer die hards make USA like some land of "anti-soccer", like there's blood on a soccer with a spike going through it.

  3. Would you celebrate if scoring against the USA, or would you be respectful? There have been many classy players that have scored against their country of origin or the country where their parents are from and have not celebrated. That's my issue with Rossi.

  4. I am portuguese american and i would have chose the Portuguese national team without blinking if I were in his decision. It's not that I don't feel American, it's just an opportunity that you can't pass up.

  5. FACT: Neven Subotic, Brede Hangeland, Simon Poulsen, Giuseppe Rossi and eh, Darren Randolph, could all have played for the US National team…

  6. You're so dumb its bizzare. He was injured for the 2010 WC and will be in the 2014 squad. The only reason he hasnt gone to Juve or Milan yet is because he's had 2 horrible long term injuries and they're waiting to see if he'll recover before splashng 20m+. Sorry to break the news, but the MLS is rubbish……

  7. All these arguments about league-level, racism, national team, etc. is besides the point. The elephant in the room is that USA doesn't respect soccer, so why would you deserve good players ? You can't have soccer-hate propaganda all over the country and then think that players will want to play for USA. The general public doesn't give a fuck about soccer. I'm sure he must have heard all the tauntings, insults, etc. in his childhood and thought " fuck this, I'll play where I'll be respected"

  8. tbh MLS is like a pub league the football is not competitive at all ….. last season man utd beat the Seattle sounders 7-0 in a pre season friendly when Seattle sounders were in the middle of their season and they should have been at their best and we should be at are worst

  9. MLS hater haha u guys are funny ….og he should of thought it through he didnteven make the 2010 world cup nor will he make it to the 2014 WC ..oh well its his decision

  10. There are some ignorant Americans on here. Of course he loves Italy, and chose to play for Italy; because he IS Italian! He was born in the States, but has Italian blood

  11. He clearly loves Italy, his spiritual homeland, and he loves football. Why would he choose to play international football for the USA, which has zero chance of winning the World Cup in the time he'll be playing, or Italy, who've won it 4 times and he has a chance with?

  12. @Wolleaston108 i would say he is ungrateful Rossi left America when he was young to become a better football player but Sahin he played his entire life in german junior teams he learned to play the game the right way here in Germany its o.k that he choosed playing for turkey but the way he did it i dont know man just ungrateful he acted like someone tried to steal his baby or something really wierd but he wouldnt have played anyway too much competition i think he knew that

  13. @demsche he's both american and italian. i agree with you. He chose to play for Italy, and believe me, this doesn't make him a traitor. And before being a football player, everybody is a person that can hold 1 or 2 or more passports. By the way, would you call Nuri Sahin a traitor because he chose to play for his parent's country?

  14. @Wolleaston108 we got the same discussion with the Turks about Özil……..his parents are from Turkey but Özil was born in Germany so that makes him a German Rossi was born in America so that makes him an American…..very simple…….but in the world of football you can choose. in the german national team played in the last 15 years 3 Brazilians ..born in brazil parents from Brazil but the grandparents of thoose guys where part germans.we call it Multi Cultural here in Germany

  15. @scarface18707 yes that sounds very cute and everything but let us see the facts Rossi was very young when he got scouted from Manchester United he got tradet to Villareal from Spain!!! in Villareal he is one of the if not THE most important player in his Team so now you can choose playing for the four times world champion Italy or a team that plays "soocer" <<just kidding but Rossi is a talented player he could play in every starting 11 of course he decided to play for italy

  16. @louididdy Oi yankee, the word is squad.Nothing more. And players get dropped all the time. When Pelligrini or w/e went to Madrid he got rid of Sneijder,Robben,VDV and so forth – let me guess , they arent good either. Its all preference. Lippi went with the old heads of Iaquinta,Di Natale, Gilardino instead of throwing in youth.Since Lipi's left they've actually been reformed with the likes of Rossi,Cassano,Montolovio

  17. @IrishRu5T Squad/roster whatever. Can you read? I never said he was going to/could play for the USA, he has chosen his side, but he didnt make the World Cup team because he wasn't among the best Italian players! It will be harder for him to play in a World Cup for Italy than if he played for the country he WAS BORN IN.
