  1. 10 years ago i thought managers were mad when they decided not to play a single striker in their team. It is now common in English football. And 20 years ago it would be boring and defensive to play 4-3-3. Today all players are expected to be able to pass, including the goalkeeper. Probably in 10 years team the position of striker is gone completely as all players are expected to have a powerful shot.

  2. I would say those of us that actually have an IQ, knew where the transfer market and wages were going to go, the moment Trevor Francis because the first million pound player. I would also say that people knew where it was all going to go, when the first transistor was invented. "The game has got faster". No shite Sherlock. Pitches like carpets, balls that are lighter than the ones we used to play with on the beach. Who remembers trying to kick and head that "medicine ball" in the 50's, 60's-70's, when it got soaking wet and heaven help you should you head the thing and catch the lace!! Football boots scientifically designed. Physio's trained to the highest degree and not just taught how to use a sponge and carry a bucket. Trained Dietitians, better training regimes, etc.. "Players want a more inventive stile of football"…No they do not, it is all about the winning and "how much can I make in bonuses." The "inventive stile", apart from a handful of Players playing the game today, went out with Maradona, Pele, Di Stefano, Garrincha, Eusebio, Beckenbauer, Cruyff and the then REAL World Class Players. World Class Players of today, that have the right to be called so, you can count on one hand. Of course Players are fitter, stronger, etc. they can afford it!! One thing else they are better at, moaning and the Oscar performances every time they are breathed on. Some of that rolling around on the pitch, pretending to be maimed for life, is ham-acting at its very best!… As for the rest of that "statin g the bleedin obvious" diatribe…Come on Gaz me old son…can't even you do better than that. As for the Interviewer…"Has the game changed over the years…The game has become more popular…what do you think of it all compared to your day…" Really? Is that the best he can do?!!

  3. "Gary Neville predicts what will change in football in the next decade."…Wow…that is what I like about these Football Pundits, they have this great "gift" (?) of stating the bleedin obvious. Lets face it Chaps, his "revelations" are not exactly George Orwell and 1984, are they.

  4. 10:00 Gary speaks about this all the time without even being asked. Players having no personality, being boxed in, and policed by rules that want to "clean up" the game. Makes it boring. Characters are fun, anyone who's seen Mourinho do an interview knows that it makes us enjoy the game as a whole.

  5. He retired having basically experienced a bit of 3 different eras. In the early days, he saw the end of boozing culture and the entry of the professional era with bloated weekly stipends and transfer deals (birth of the prem), he then went on to see the changing tactics & entry of rich ownership in the mid-late two thousands. He just has so many stories to inform his responses. Look how he pulls one out of nowhere at 4:45

  6. FOOTBALL IS BORING NOW, GIVE ME THE GEORGE BEST, FRANCIS LEE DAYS, SLUDGY PITCHES, HARD TACKLING, BALLS THAT ARE NOT LIKE BALLONS, BRING THOSE DAYS BACK, GARY HAS EARNED A LOT OF MONEY, AND HE WASNT A GREAT PLAYER, AND HE WORKS FOR SKY, SO HE HAS TO SAY THAT, PLAYERS TODAY ARE SOFT, WHO CARE ABOUT THEIR HAIR, AND BANK ACCOUNT, THEY DONT GIVE A DAMN ABOUT THE FANS.

  7. I always thought Neville was a gobshite when he was playing, even though I followed United, but he really is brilliant on Sky, he offers great insight and is infectiously positive a lot of the time, without being false, I'm not really an enormous football guy, but the like of him, Carragher & Henry are so good for football, just listening to them is great, compared with Keane (and I'm Irish so I've no particular reason to dislike him) who is negative, snarky, dismissive and rude about most things, except our lord and saviour Denis Irwin. People say that footballers are thick, but you watch the level of intelligence they convey through the content on Sky and it massively changes your perspective, I'd love if more sports could deliver this kind of quality content.

  8. All players must be taught to cry on demand, sorry they already do this, wear ballet shoes because they are becoming ridiculous wusses, wear crash helmets and bullet proof shorts and must attend acting classes so they can roll around at least 25 times.

  9. Probably the first half of the decade to be dominated by Man City and Liverpool and then the second half of the decade will see the 3pm blackout permenantly removed and Amazon Prime take all the games sky and bt don't
