We don’t need self validation by players donating there wages to the NHS keep this to yourself. The issue here is if your club has no income how do we pay players. You cannot carry on paying players the same wages, the clubs will just go bankrupt in the end .

Upwards of 80% of some Premier clubs revenue goes on players wages. That's very disproportionate to your average business. They didn't mention here what they get paid in sponsorship as well, which for some players can be same again as their wages. I see players who can't kick a ball with both feet & get paid £250k/wk??
Owners are the richest persons associated with the club. They should contribute the most.
To bring some balance and revenue to teams, league and broadcasters is give every squad equal televised money. Show every league game played with the viewers choice of 3pm games to watch. Drop the top teams money annually and raise the lower teams to give everyone an equal chance. Sky and BT will take in more customers due to lower table fans being able to see all of their teams games. They’ll still be paying out the same as they normally do except it’ll now be equal rather than the most to the hierarchy and you’ll probably see more balance in stability and quality in future years to come
Why are EPL the ones to rule and announce the percentage for the clubs. Each club should come to their own agreement to keep them afloat. Some clubs spend and earn more and some spend and earn less. 30% across the league doesn’t work for all clubs and it shouldn’t be enforced by the league. All clubs are gonna suffer in their own severity.

That say's it all, clueless carragher say's words the effect," If they are paid 200,000 quid a week fair play and they deserve it".

Personally, there's too many overseas players in English Premier league expecting over the top wages for what….🤔 they ain't superhuman, & are sponsored by big name companies etc. So if they "actually care" about the town they play their football in, then absolutely YES take a pay cut & man up & that goes for all overpaid people from CEO's to sports people alike.

Should be a club by club basis. Player by player within those clubs. Clubs will be or should be sitting down with their players and telling them how much they are currently missing out on due to the loss in revenue and then discuss and work out the amounts that the club will need to reduce its wage bill whether permanently or for a set time. Finances will be hit hard for years to come not just until the end of the lockdown.

Some of these players are earning over 250k a week. More than half of that is just money going into their pockets & not on bills, payments & whatever else. They earn so much money for running about on a field & kicking a ball. They’re not working at the moment so take the pay cut & don’t moan about it.

Their opinions are completely biased because they earn so much money from the ludicrous system currently in place but ultimately non of this matters. Most clubs will be insolvent by the end of this and the leagues will be forced to reformat. The days of being paid millions of pounds a year to play a sport are over. Some are getting that reality quicker than others.

How can you discuss economics with footballers ! The morality off it yes but not numbers , there simply not qualified . So until the percentages are agreed you cannot agree over a number that's not been decided . It's not unfortunately about right and wrong , it's about greed and how selfish people are , this is laughable really . The poor just keep working at getting poorer . Food for thought .

Footballers are extremely overpaid anyway so pay cut is not an issue. However the British society has taught people to be selfish and they wouldn’t care anything else apart from money coming into the bank without doing anything. I don’t see any role models in Britain because of the arrogance society.
First of all it's not right that footballers should finance the nhs with there own cash some footballers did it because they wanted too help .brilliant. As for pay and conditions is an internal issue full stop.not for the pfa who's own president wouldn't take a pay cut .

Jamie Carragher is a good pundit with a lot of respect in the game, but the one thing that stood out as poor taste is when he said players making £200-£300K per week deserve every penny! there are nurses working 16 hour shifts making £25-£30K PER YEAR, poor comment.
