Whilst I agree there are to many meaningless games for top players & clubs due to the increasing and expansion of competitions, it is only a small percentage of top clubs and players that are actually affected by playing too many games & that also depends on how deep they go in said competition.
It's not affecting the vast majority of teams in what ever league they are playing in.
However instead of threatening to go on strike why don't they negotiate directly with their clubs if they are so concerned by it.
They could easily sign a contract saying I will only play 50 games per season and you can utilize me how ever you want.
They can also say they don't want to play in money making tours that go to the far flung corners of the world, making their respective clubs more money which in turn ends up in the pockets of the players.
The club can then agree to this, however under the conditions that in doing so this will greatly reduce the amount salary you get per contract.
Basically address their issues in their contracts.
Let's see how many players will prioritize their financial gains over reducing their workload.
I think we all know the answer to this.
The results of Fifa greed with all of these new tournaments.
uefa nations league doesnt matter, why bother playing world cup starters
I agree. As a fan, it's too much to watch and follow. Which tournament or league is this game? Where are we on that table? It's exhausting!
Give me 400k per week, ill gladly play twice as many games.
Meanwhile, hockey players in the NHL play over 90 games per year. Not including playoffs
Barcelona didn't qualify for the Club World Cup
I think it'd be easier to get the national team coaches to gather together.
It's insane that the absolute best players who play for their national teams need to be rested at the START of the season.
Yes footballers make a ton of money, but to ask someone to run a 10k every 2-4 days isn't sustainable.

Too many international matches. Too many tournaments. The NFL is done essentially the end of January and not back in training until July/August. MLB is done in October and not back in training until February/March. NBA is done May/June and not back until September. NHL is done May back in September. European football teams basically have a month and this year some of the top players on top teams only had like 2 weeks. What genius thinks that ensuring long terms injuries will help sell tickets? They say they need to do it to pay the salaries, but how does the NFL or NBA do it? Their salaries are higher. Also, why is international football the only major team sport that does not allow substitutions in/out throughout the game? Why once a player is substituted can't they come back in? If that were the case, they could rest more.
Less matches means players should take reduced salaries
Lol look at their salaries. Who gives a f
The players could be under 10x more pressure and it still wouldn't justify the money they get. Make them suffer for it at least. Couldn't care less about their mental health, they couldn't care less about the fans.
I live in Sweden and i don’t want to get rid of the Nations League because if we get rid of it then were just playing games on a much lower level on the pitch in terms of intensity and enthusiasm for the players so i don’t want to go back to meaningless friendlies. Also having the nations league brings in more revenue for all the national federations in UEFA
I couldn't agree more
I been playing soccer for years y'all and I done been watching from the bleachers on the regular. Rosters nowadays are packing with athletes and their ain't no god damn excuse fa shizzle
People still refuse to accept the facts…too many games = more injuries = LESS of actually seeing the best vs the best
Poor football players 😂😂 what about the real men who work 50 hours a week to support their family’s not these fairy’s who moan if they might have to play 180 minutes a week
😂😂😂😂 this is why corruption is on the high in football, nobody wants to work and earn it. Players re soft, clubs are soft. This guys earns more than most presidents of some countries on weekly basis but they want to just sleep and wake up without working. Playing 3 matches per week is 4hr 30mns, 2 matches is 3hrs
Modern footballers are SOFT and fragile! Back in the 70s 80s 90s players were tough as nails could play several matches …no bitching and complaining they just manned up and got to work. Today's millionaires are like divas
