I heard years ago in the german league they were going to try the rules of pens
If a match ends with a draw the teams goes straigt to pens
And the winner gets 2 point and the defeated team gets 1

Honestly, implementing the golden goal rule as a part of a regular game would be the best. It would make the teams try harder to score to avoid the extensive exhaustion later on (which is something they train for). I mean there are more sub options now and even a water break or 2. It used to be somewhat this way in boxing with the 15 round fights instead of now 12. Pretty much guaranteed a ko every fight or at least more points to be scored. The idea would be less time wasting and more attacking football during regular time to ensure the players aren’t too fatigued for next game and this would present more tactics for teams to prepare.
