First time in my 40 years that I watched the USMNT play proper football. They looked like a top flight European club team, it was amazing. Fluke, or future? I’m going future given that we finally seem to see the importance of players who were developed by proper academy systems, instead of trying to field the best team of College Division 1 soccer players. If they can make a bit of a run and get some of the most athletic 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th graders to get excited by soccer and decide to play that instead of Football or Basketball, even better.
