To be a golden generation you need to have GOLD in your neck.
This generation has to be considered the base line for future generations to grow from, not the "golden generation"
You can go back to different Ecuadorian youth and club teams to see the origins of this generation. Long story short Independiente De Valle, Jorge Celico (U-20), and Gustavo Alfaro have been influential in the making of this current team. Last world cup and I'd assume for the current, Ecuador boasted one of the youngest squads on paper. Moises Caicedo is the most balanced player on this squad (Attack, Defense, he can even play right back). Let's hope he can play the first game because we will definitely need him against Ivory Coast. Denil Castillo, if healthy, can mimic certain traits, but it will not be the same. Castillo is making his mark with FC Midtjylland. Germany had a really good showing these past friendlies while Ecuador, once again tied and showed the inability to win and score multiple goals. But offensively looked much better. Should be a great match. This is Ecuador's golden generation. No other generation can compare in multiple categories (European based players, accolades, worth, etc.). There are pros and cons to Beccacece. Pros 1)Ability to defend and be compact 2) Continuing to play young players 3) Change formation with certain players at his disposal, especially with injuries (whether the person is injured or coming back from an extended absence). Cons 1) Goal scoring 2) Offensive play through the middle 3) Questionable substitutions (player and timing). Bonus- NOT CALLING UP JEREMY SARMIENTO. The kid is a stud and a solution to con #2. We can debate the pros and cons of Sarmiento, but there's no reason why he should not at least be called up. Unless there's bad blood between them… I can't speak for all Ecuadorians, but the way Ecuador looked under Alfaro, was more attractive in regards to soccer play and goals. This is why people are hard on Beccacece. Ecuadorians are tired of making the world cup, participating, ties, and not progressing up the pitch. We have the fire power to go toe to toe, not just rely on Galindez making incredible saves and one of the best back 3 in the world (Ordonez, Hincapie, and Pacho). I will say lately it's been hard for Beccacece to play wing backs because of how injure prone and lackluster Preciado and Estupinan have been lately for club and country. This changes the dynamic and why he pulls Franco to right back. We have no depth in that area. I like Yaimar Medina. But I almost forgot and was reminded by Beccacece that Alan Minda can play that left area real well. Also FEF treated Alfaro poorly leading to his departure which players and fans still feel to this day. Alfaro seems to be the one that got away and Beccacece the rebound. Nilson Angulo is a stud, Monster. He reminds me of Plata before leaving Real Valladolid (Can play with both feet, defend, score, take players on, etc.). Ecuador at worst get knocked out 2nd round and at best Quarter Finals.

The Genesis could be the 2019 U20 WC 3rd place, in the way that we realize that we can achieve big things. But it was The lost generation of U20 2021 (because of COVID) the one that has a really good level. Pacho, Caicedo, Hincapié, Vite are from that generation

As a person with Ecuadorian heritage, just stop. The attack is on par with concacaf teams like honduras. Yeboah plays in italian serie b, couldnt cut it in even serie a. He only had very minor success in the polish league. Valencia is 36 😂. Hes not lewandowski. He plays in mexico. Hes the main guy the mean is relying on for gols, come on. Paez failed in europe, so much so that he got sent back to South America. He can still improve but very unlikely given his lifestyle.
