Does this new Brazil team work?

Brazil secured its first win of the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Haiti, thanks to a brace from Matheus Cunha and a goal from Vinícius Júnior. But despite the result, questions remain: where is the famous Jogo Bonito? The Morning Footy crew debates whether Brazil is still playing with the flair and identity that once made the Seleção feared around the world. Are Brazilian stars moving to Europe too early? Does Brazil still have the same fear factor on the international stage? And was Neymar the last true symbol of Brazil’s golden generations?

  1. Everyone has to remember 5 BRA starters are now injurie . In fact, No1,2,3 right back choices are injurie. Worse, BRA team and formation have been changing in every game for 1 yr. Most countries would have fall apart with BRA circumstances.

  2. These guys bunch of idiots and haters, typical USA soccer fans. Brazil doesn’t need joga bonito now a days just need to win and move on. at the end of the day, Brazil is Brazil and have 5 cups, you can never take that magic out of them.

  3. You say that Brazil have no more beauty then the media cry and say Neymar and Vinicius are disrespectful when they bring out the tricks. A player was given a card for showboating in France lol so shut up

  4. They are right. European leagues are cannibalizing the Brazilian style.
Euro clubs come to our best young players, extract them from us, and label their moves too risky.
I saw Vini when he was a teenager, and he was all moves and dribbles. As he got to Real Madrid, Benzema told his teammates to not play with him.
If you think of Neymar having his bones get broken at the French league because his plays were considered disrespectful, you fast realize you need to conform in order to succeed on the old continent.
Those who come back are somehow stigmatized, as they are not so good, as the European leagues reject them.

  5. Europe is about EFFICIENCY not flair. Only Brazil and Argentina have won with flair, every other WC winner was efficient. Even the 94 champions Brazil won in "boring" fashion but they were efficient. The 82 side had waaay more flair, but lost to a more efficient side. Nobody is in this thing to "look pretty" everyone it's in this for one thing: the gold

  6. These guys are looking for jogo bonito, when they are the ones saying jogo doesn't work in the modern game 🤦‍♂️

Brazil is working with Ancelotti so he only cares about the 3 points, jogo bonito or not.

And the only reason they didnt score more goals against Haiti is because he wanted to test a different system of sitting back and soaking up pressure in the 2nd half.

Even if that choice costs us not topping the group, I think experimenting to find the perfect system is much more worth it.

Plus saying brazil doesn't have generational talent is crazy 🤦‍♂️

We don't have Estevao (RW) Rodrygo (CAM) & Joao Pedro (CF)

Only weakness was full backs, now even more so with Wesly injured.

Midfield is slow cause Casemiro, but Bruno still doing his best.

We still have Neymar, Endrick, Henrique, Martinelli & Rayan on the bench.

You guys need to chill, Ancelotti has the players he just needs the system to click.

  7. I don't get the point of saying they are not the old Brasil, and expect them to play like the old Brasil. The team won and what most pundits have to say is "I wanna see jogo bonito". I'm Brazilian and miss that, of course, but I'm not stuck on the past. They are talking like the team lost or something, lol

  8. 90’s 2000’s Brazil didn’t win cups with the ‘Joga Bonito’ Nike slogan b.s. Anytime joga bonito was implemented was friendlies because i remember vividly we almost didn’t qualify for the cups we won. I’m tired of journalists in general.

  9. What matters is 3 points, whether we beat Haiti or not,i realise that some people will never be content, they will always complain, if Brazil wins against Scotland, they will find fault. But Brazil will improve as the tournament continues.

  10. Who cares about jogo bonito? No one cares about that. We care about results, and watching the team playing well together. This is such a lazy take that pundits keep repeating over and over again.

  11. Brazil now has a coach who has experience in how to play football and how to win trophies even when you are not in the most favorable situation. And as for these experts, regardless because I've been following them for a long time, I'm not really sure how competent they are to talk about football. If they don't like a club, national team or player, they are never objective. And if it's the opposite, they tell stories that have nothing to do with the relationship.
