  1. Looking back, this experience may have been what propelled Emery to success at Villarreal. From being so open at Arsenal he developed a clear and robust strategy of being excellent defensively – either as a 4-4-2 or a 4-5-1 – and clinical on the counter attack. He could do very well at Aston Villa now where he can do something similar, without the pressure of Arsenal fans clamouring for “attacking football” because they’re “a big club.”

  2. Neville wants to see a manager start taking the club backwards before he makes the decision to sack him? Sacking Emery is not an impulsive decision. He's brought some of those poor defenders, and is the reason his team aren't closing down and are conceding so many shots.

  3. Apparently, players win matches, not tactics and formations, managers lose matches, with tactics and formations. The players want the manager out or a different club. Overpaid prima donnas, funded by braying, ignorant punters. A mess. What a complete Arsenal.

  4. "he's created confusion"
No doubt about that, on and off the pitch, especially during post match interview's, and that's not a slight on his heavy accent, he doesn't seem to be able to address simple questions with conviction.

  5. if it wasn't for Emery's overachievements I would have called for him to be sacked. Dont forget when Sir Alex took over at Utd, he was flying at Aberdeen and was booed for 2 seasons at utd till in his 3rd season then he got it right. I think Emery needs the same amount of time so I agree with Neville.

  6. Right, the reason why is fans want him gone is because Emery cost us top 4 with poor team selections in the last 8 games last season. On top of that we got battered in the Europa League Final. This form has continued into this season. The form has actually gotten even worse. He doesn’t know our best team, formation and is alienating our best players (Ozil, Pepe etc). We need a change for the sake of the season! It’s nothing to do with fans being delusional or selfish or hateful.

  7. Sorry Gary, I live in Spain and his reputation is NOT high at all in Spain. He is considered mediocre at best. For Spanish football success is Champions League football and Unai has got nowhere near it. He has no pedigree here. He maybe a legend in Sevilla but defintily not in Spain in general.

  8. Gary, ive seen so many of his arguments over the years — it makes sense why he failed horrible as a coach. He was a great player, but his clouded judgent on modern football is clear. Still a good watch though 😊
