Great listen…cheers lads
Breaking news, Vic fears that after his surgery he may miss the next two managers
Happy to hear how De Zerbi plays, for the last few seasons I have always said our issue is we play in ones and twos when we need to be threes and fours. Feel more confident now !!
just one further point ,
the often important bit of info re de zerbi that gets missed , is the tony bloom , jamestown analytics connection.
from the manager to the players , they dont get to blooms brighton without the maths geniuses at jamestown analytics approval. jamestown are the best in the business, so hopefully there is some residual upside for spurs as well in the de zerbi hire,
the only problem is, as in most competitive environment's , upside or advantage doesnt last long , and the rest of the competition comes up with counter measures for any innovation that will yield an advantage. hence de zerbis and anges second seasons , if the opposition quality is good enough.
the worry is , de zerbi has already had a second season in the epl , and the rest of the league have figured him out, so he needs to come up with some counter measures for the counter measures that have been used against him,
cant wait to see what he comes up with
Everyone said ange wouldn't win anything with us…. Everyone said frank would work well with us…. Everyone said we needed a quick fix manager-bounce type manager…. I think people haven't got a clue what will and won't work….. All we can do is wait and see…. And hope 😂

Did Bissouma play under deZerbi at Brighton? He was very good for them, so if deZerbi had him perhaps we may see a footballer in him again??
Since De Zerbi was in PL 'possession' has not created winning teams. Things have moved on to 'quick break' and return of big strong forwards, rather than technical players. Pep also said in a recent interview that 'system' or 'possession' football is dead and he has had to change his own tactics to return to winning ways.
Passing to players wearing same colour shirt would be a good place to start.
Good insight into how RDZ works, like to hear about which players will be the winners and losers in a semi RDZ football, hope to see the quality in some players come out after being restricted under previous coaches!
You guys are useless so I asked ChatGPT instead on the plight of Spurs –
my blunt read is that Spurs thought they were upgrading on Ange Postecoglou, but the danger is they may actually have cashed out the one manager who had made the players believe they could win something serious.
Even a robot can see. The players were all in on Ange but you had zero patience for any challenge and just wanted out at the first whiff. You might be born into fandom of this club but you trashed the one person that gave you success.
Always enjoy the coach's view. Thanks guys.
Ohso33. All the way from South Africa
I think we saw some of this quick passing at times against Athletico Madrid? If he can get that going we will be fine.
I would love to see some brief tactical board visualizations. Great content though!
The description here of De Zerbi's tactics using short passing triangles reminds me of Spurs team from 1951 with Arthur Rowe. The "push and run" system of short passing revolutionised English football and was the origin of Spurs famous attacking philosophy.
GET VAN DE VEN OUT OF THIS CLUB NOW!! HE’S A DISGRACE.
so all the tactics have now been explained the other teams now know what to expect
Please do an analysis of Johan Lange's performance as a recruiting manager for Spurs and his qualifications for being Spurs Director of Football.
I want to understand how a RDZ offensive works against the low and mid block
How are they going to execute RDZ's high-pressing short-passing system?
Thomas Frank and the conditioning team have left our squad woefully unfit and unable to string together two passes.
If you interview the Sunderland fan again, ask him about Roy Keane as manager 🙂
Squid Army!!
Really interesting post thank you.
Looking forward to seeing possession based attacking football again.
#Ohso33 nice work…
#ohso33 great video guys.

Its no difference to Ange.
This feels like a new dawn. It's exciting. Let's hope De Zerbi sorts out our defence asap. Thanks to you and JJ for another great video. #Ohso33 and COYS!
#ohso33 I'd like to know more about JJ's career and aspirations
What worries me is Ancelotti once said "Don't press. If you press, they will pass the ball around you. Don't press, and they will give the ball to you," and as a consequence, his Real Madrid were able to thrash Shakhtar. Teams will be very aware of what RDZ wants to do. If there hasn't been any evolution of the system he used at Brighton, things are about to get very sticky.
lets go back to spurs famous win over city early season, frank went full court press , and it worked , but there were fine margins . city had ample ops to find the right outball , and a slight increase in their passing accuracy and better decision making , spurs get their back side handed back to them on a plate,
think ive mention this before, the paradox of pressing.
the harder spurs press against a more skillful opponent , the less time that skillful opponent has to find that out ball , but paradoxically , the pressing team has less time to organise against the out ball, and the more skillful opponent always finds enough lethal outballs to nick goals .
the skill attribution data in the spurs squad , especially in midfield, suggests all remaining 7 games , the opposition will have the advantage in midfield , and spurs might get parity if xavi starts,
hopefully its a good sign that de zerbi didnt talk football philosophy. hes italian , and all italian coaches are born sheep herders , experts in the dark arts of catenaccio.
more sheep herding and no pressing deep stretching the game, or spurs are in trouble,
One thing you can guarantee is that VDV won't be mugging this manager off in public
#ohso33 excellent show keep it up guys 👍🏻
#ohso33. Excited to watch his brand football. Started watching football last year (the first game I watched was the first leg against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup). It's been a crazy first year of watching football and supporting this club. Hope I get to see some beautiful attacking football soon. COYS!
I will be interested to see if and how De Zerbi utilizes Tel, Xavi, Muani, and Gallagher. If Palhinha and Bentancur were fit, I would definitely start them at double-pivot. If Kudus is available, I would like to see how he plays out. Thinking Richie may be his go-to striker til Summer. But hard to say. I think Tel and Xavi will buy in hard. Kudus too maybe. Once summer comes and we are up or not, I think he needs to demand Vuskovic in the starting mix. If Romero or VdV buck his methods – and I don't think they particularly will – but if so, show them where there future lies. Danso is a brick wall too, but think he's gonna have to get more offensive under the Zerb system.
I believe it will be an interesting time from now to Armageddon. Then afterward, we can all laugh about it and/or see Spurs transform before our eyes. Whether making shambles of the EPL or EFL Think this dude has been entrusted with the encrusted family jewels. Vinai has put all his trust into him to right the ship. If it don't work out, we will see a Tottenham fire sale.
So Spurs now have Ange 2.0. Imagine if they'd just ridden the momentum swing and morale boost of winning a major piece of silverware instead of killing it stone dead. I hope they've learnt form the diabolical mistakes that have been made since then. If not, it matters little which manager is in charge.
4-2-3-1 consistently, which is apparently his favoured formation. Under poch, this is where we played our best football. Playing these ballers in their correct positions, positions the players are actually familiar with eg Lucas not in a 10 but ina 6/8. To ur point rb and lb acting as inside 6s, join the attack when necessary and support the counter when needed. Attackers attack, defenders defend, midfield 2way, left footers on the left. Build around Archie! Use the youth players! Big up JJ
This triangular aytacks is not disimilar to ang's so hopefully players slip back into that attack centric play.
#OhSo33 JJ's the man, clear analysis thank you guys.
RDZ to do list
1. Apply elite positive psychology.
2. Give clear simple messages around defending, transition and attacking principles for next 7 games.
3. Celebrate the winning goal that keeps us in the prem with a mega knee slide, sparking euphoria with the fans.
The future's bright, the future's lily white🤍

I’ve been waiting’s for this video
A very astute analytical breakdown! I’m interested to understand how de zerbi’s approach is fundamentally different to that demanded by Ange and Tudor?
From your analysis it appears the three have fundamentally similar approaches. What will de Zerbi do differently that will get the players to play differently to how they played under Tudor?
Signs of hope
Helps to have the board with magnetic players to illustrate tactics
Im 72. My father would have been 103. He used to say 1-2 from the 60s. Keep players close pass and receive one touch. He would love to hear and agree with coach's analysis.
He took me to watch us win the double. Many FA cups and europa league.
Glad we are back to his Way.
