  1. What he says about Roy Keane is quite important.
He says he was great for him although maybe from the outside to us it seemed he was too critical and harsh.
Roy Keane is probably the best captaint United had in their history, surely in the last 30 years.
    Massive, massive influence.

  2. Darren should definitely consider management in a few years.
His experience, character and people skills would provide for a quality manager either in Scotland or England.

  3. Alex Ferguson didn’t genuinely care about them it was all about getting them to play better and Man Utd winning and he definitely liked Fletcher coz he was Scottish and reason why he’s there now

  4. wow…love his statement about keano, there are bunch of times that keano praises him and encourage him which ppl dint know…and ppl wud love to see keano hammers ppl rather than see him giv praises..ppl just love sensational things…well said darren, one of the most underrated man u player alongside john o shea, dennis irwin, park ji sung and the likes…unsung heroes!

  5. Now they’re both back at the club. Fletcher ad a technical director and Ronaldo as a player. Slowly but surely we’re getting back to where we belong.

  6. Future united manager. Always thought this. Something about Fletch, want to stop and listen to everything he says like SAF. Hope he becomes a manager one day.

  7. What a beautiful speech from Darren….Lets celebrate players, not put them down. And i say, celebrate people, dont let ourselves down too

  8. Sir Alex said that Darren had an engine like no other player he ever managed. He could run up and down the pitch the whole game and never tire. He had complete trust in Darren to carry out his instructions. A truly great team member.

  9. As a City fan, i could see that Fletcher was specifically selected for big games for his ability to follow precise instructions and do a job for the team.
Everything Darren has said on here is exactly what was blatantly obvious to anyone who understands football.
We all like to watch flair players and skillful tricksters but to compete at the highest level every team needs players in the squad without ego who will do a specific job to nullify threats from opposition to allow the threats from his own team to do what they do confidently knowing that somebody is covering them and taking care of the oppositions dangers if they were to lose the ball.
A successful team requires a wide range of individuals who contribute to the targets in different ways.
Having 11 Christiano Ronaldo's on the pitch wouldn't win you a thing. Teams need a Fletcher, a Kante, a Makelele, a Mascherano, a Deco or a Gattuso to get stuck in, nullify the oppositions rhythms and follow instructions for the benefit of the team in that specific match.
Fletcher and Ji Sung Park were brilliant at man marking and following a specific job in a big match.
