  1. Argentina’s Black population did not vanish; rather, the government deliberately marginalized them, aggressively promoted European immigration to "whiten" the population, and wrote Afro-Argentines out of the history books. This systemic erasure occurred through several distinct mechanisms:Frontline Conscription: During the 19th-century Wars of Independence and the Paraguayan War, Black men were heavily recruited or essentially used as "cannon fodder" in the front lines, leading to disproportionately high casualty rates.Disease & Neglect: Yellow fever outbreaks and squalid living conditions in segregated, disease-ridden slums decimated Black communities.State-Sponsored Whitening: Following its 1853 constitution, Argentina actively encouraged millions of white European immigrants to settle in the country to "civilize" and culturally whiten the population. This mass wave of immigration, paired with societal pressure for Afro-Argentines to intermarry, heavily diluted the Black demographic.Historical Erasure: By the late 19th century, the government largely stopped recognizing Afro-Argentines in national censuses, creating a pervasive national myth that "there are no Black people in Argentina".Historical accounts regarding the intentionality of this demographic decline are debated. While some scholars point to structural racism and targeted policies (such as the forced recruitment into unwinnable wars) as a form of state-sponsored "genocide," others argue the shift was a natural result of heavy European immigration and widespread intermixing.

  2. Here's a thought I came up with early this morning. Many of the people here for the World Cup will eventually go home, and the paperwork will still say they're citizens of whatever country they came from. HOWEVER, they are now all American citizens in their hearts, whether they know it or not.

  3. I want to say THANK YOU to everyone that came to America with the spirit of the game in your soul and love in your heart. As an American it is really wonderful to see the jovial people of other countries.
    WE ARE ALL ONE RACE!
    THE HUMAN RACE! ❀❀❀❀

  4. Everyone of these fans from around the world now knows to never trust their media or ours in America to see what true Americans are like and what true America is!!!
