It doesn’t help that the entire team is in the infirmary, the back line isn’t preventing teams from taking dangerous shots, the midfield isn’t giving any cover. He is the last line of defense, yes, but it’s not like the rest of the team isn’t forcing the opponent into taking more risky, but lower reward shots

Hold on. Reality is that he is trying to NOT lower his GK's confidence even further then it already is. Had he seen any of the other GK's on the same level as Onana, then he would have swapped but Onanas statistic is fairly decent and he is a sweeper keeper although he has not shown it much since we need to play with a low standing defence with the players we have whos not injured. Not trying to defend neither Onana or ten Hag, merely trying to explain to the "amateur experts" whats what. You dont sink a GK's already low confidence even more. Thats just stupid, behind closed doors they're most likely already looking into new options.
