The message by the Portugal coach over the last 3 weeks was simple: just pass the group stage (without having to overload the players in that Miami heat) and ramp up. Today, Portugal did not press the accelerator because they didn't care about the result, 2nd place allows them to go north, more favorable weather and European opponents. The substitutions are proof that the coach was more interested in player rotation than chasing a win. Portugal's World Cup starts now, against Croatia in Toronto. I agree..
