LMAO what a way to say that Canada didn't win but USA lost. pffft When you get outclassed like that it isn't just how broken you system is, but maybe how much Canadas has propelled itself ahead. Wiebe hit it on the head, the better team won.
So now Canada is better than US at both hockey and soccer.

The problem that ALL of the critics of American Soccer do not realize is that we cannot have the system the critics want the US to have. The Reason? In 36 of the 50 States, it is ILLEGAL for any child under the age of 16 to be under a professional contract. The reason is that with the exception of movies and television, no child can participate in any sort of apprenticeship program that pays them a wage, and that includes soccer! Under US laws a child can be in a pay to play system OR they can be in system where all of the costs are paid for by a charity. However any system like they have in Europe would result in the prosecution of the adults involved.
We have the Best Player of the 2 Teams, probably best 2 players of the 2 teams… Phonsie and David…. Pulisic is their best player.

I don't understand why pundits that played in the best league don't say the simple truth. The American development system is the worst possible. Relegation-Promotion is the only way forward, I get that people who invest in US sports prefer the stable income from their respective franchises, but it has stagnated the sport for the last 10 years. America will never improve and will just rely on a possibly good generation that gets them to the last 16 once a decade and thats it. Why do you think Beckham came into the league? I am football(soccer) fan and to all Americans seeing this I want to point out some things
1) Promotion-Relegation or mediocrity and stagnation
2) Get rid of the gold cup and participate in copa America or you will never improve because competive matches against big opposition is the only way to improve and get real experience
3) Completely change the youth system not just in soccer.
The third one is the most important here, first tanking in any sport is bad for the sport and damages the product, the only reason Americans are good in some sports is because they are either nearly the only ones playing it(football, baseball,hockey) or in other cases like womens soccer or athletics they outspend every other country by literally tens or hundreds of millions of dollars. As European I am interested, don't you think its weard that the best young players in basketball for example(Giannis,Luka Doncic) aren't American and actually come from tiny countries that put together are 1/4 the size of Florida? Basketball in Europe is divided into 3 leagues once they figure it out like they did in football(soccer) European basketball will surely overcome the American. Youth development in Spain, Germany,France,England,Portugal is the primary reason they win every time and have the best teams. If things don't change the American leagues will become retirement leagues in every sport.
I mean the government literally grants your federation 10BILLION $ of taxpayers money for a decade just to loose and get worse? I would be out in the streets protesting!

So, Canada came out on a different pace and style of play and the US was too stunned to play? Yes, we changed our style because we now have the players to be more agressive and higher pressing. Our previous coaches instilled that defensive mindset that screwed us in every qualifying year since 1985. We have kids who have grown up watching TFC play and some of the national team players learned from Bradley and Altidore.

as a canadian, i was not surprised in the least of the result. canada was hungry and motivated and the usa was not. Herdman is 10-2 as coach and the usa is in flux right now.

Our system breeds arrogance and entitlement from players who have achieved little and are owed nothing. DA kids care more about the picture before the game than their performance in the game. Look at Pulisic’s body language for everything gone wrong.

What the serious f? Firstly, US should beat Canada? Did you even look at the rosters at all? Second, who in MLS represents Canada? MLS is an international league. Or is MLS just letting Canada participate, eehh, for the heck of it.

I have been a 🇨🇦 passionate fan since 1993. It's been 26 dispirited years, with a Gold Cup high in 2000. That's it. Finally, finally, we have an exciting team that we can get results. We need to be Top 6 and make the Hex. There are so many Canadian fans & followers that deserve it.

Stop being greedy, try to find REAL talents on the streets from all parts of your society and support them no matter what. You simply MUST completely change your system of youth, add system with relegation and promotion, but most importantly, be honest and stop acting like you are something big in the football world, cuz you are not. Look how Iceland completely overturned their football. Iceland. 100 times smaller nation than yours.

Canada not getting the recognition it deserves… justifying the reason for their win on others mistakes but the only reason they made mistakes was Canada forcing them and pushing… i would say USA stunned me more than Canada did
Mostly the problem is all around: The USA national team has to do well with both the coaching staff and talent development for the men's team. America has excelled in other sports quite well as American sport fans are generally spoiled. However in regards to the men's game for soccer-football the competition is brutally competitive. They seem to have done an excellent job with the women's program but the men's program seems they have had a lot of problems. Perhaps they should ask the USWNT team for some pointers
